Students will be able to understand California peace officers have the authority to take juveniles into temporary custody for that juvenile's protection, welfare or for the protection and safety of the general public.
Students will be able to understand the number of alternatives available for the disposition of a juvenile case.
Students will be able to understand situations in which a peace officer may take into temporary custody, without a warrant, a minor who is at risk of suffering physical or emotional hard, or sexual abuse.
Students will be able to understand situations in which a peace officer may take into temporary custody, without a warrant, a minor who habitually refuses to obey reasonable orders, or is habitually truant from school.
Students will be able to understand situations in which juveniles who commit crimes will be held accountable.
