Instructor
I live in Johannesburg, the heartland of South Africa. I qualified as a medical technologist in 1981. This was during grand apartheid South Africa. Since there were no prospects for advancement for young black qualified technologists at the time I took up hairdressing. In 1982 I became self-employed as owner/manager/operator of Dr Fingertips Hairdesign Salon which I sold after 20 years in 2002.
In 1988 together with 3 partners we manufactured and distributed Principal Afro hair-care products. I started Restore plus Afro hair-care range in 1991 and sold the brand in 1997 to a JSE listed company who after a few years sold it to L'Oreal. I then got involved in a joint-venture with a Scandinavian company to produce and distribute Afro hair-care and hygiene products and services. In all the above chemical and cosmetics manufacturing businesses I personally did hands-on compounding and managing production as well as the businesses.
I sold everything in 2002 and retired. I published BUSINESS TIPS in 2006. The bulk of concepts in this course have been reworked from my book BUSINESS TIPS.
I've been through it all, including voluntary sequestration.
I currently do business consulting and mentoring.
This course: Streetwise Business is literally the script of my business journey for half my life.
I've been married to Busi my beautiful wife for 34 years and we have two grown sons and a grand daughter.
I believe that you'll find gold nuggets in my work.
