Anna Mazurek teaches part-time at Texas State University and hosts lectures/workshops at the University of Texas at Austin. She developed a university-level business course about freelancing and business for media majors. The course draws from her decade of experience as a freelancer combined with research and interviews with industry leaders. When she was in graduate school, there were no business courses for journalism majors so she decided to create her own course to empower tomorrow’s leaders. She’s spent the last few months researching the effects of COVID-19 on the job market by looking at studies from the Great Recession and interviews with economists, business professors and human resource managers at large media companies to help her students navigate the job market during an unstable economy.
She has a Master’s degree in journalism from the University of Missouri and has worked as a freelance photographer and writer. Her clients include Facebook, the Wall Street Journal, Rolling Stone, AFAR magazine and Travel+Leisure. She launched her own travel blog, TravelLikeAnna, in 2015. In 2018, she released her first book, Good With Money: A Guide to Prioritizing Spending, Maximizing Savings, and Traveling More, which was featured in both Forbes and The Washington Post.
