Swahili, also known by ts native name Kiswahili, is a Bantu language and the native language of the Swahil people. It is one of two official languages  of the East African Community (EAC) countries,lan namely Tanzania ,BuruSwahilenya, Rwanda, South Sudan,  and Uganda.


Swahili is also one of the official language and working language of the African Union (AU)  and of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) Countries namely Namibia, South Africa, Zambia, Zimbabwe, DR Congo, Botswana, Malawi, Mauritius, sychelles, Madagascar, Eswatin,  Angola, lethotho, Comoros and Democratic Republic of Tanzania.


The exact number of Swahili speakers, be they native or second-language speakers, is estimated to be between 50 million to more than 200 million.


In 2018, South Africa legalized the teaching of Swahili in schools as an optional subject and begun in 2020. Botswana followed in 2020.


Swahil is official language in four countries such as Tanzania, Uganda , Kenya and Rwanda.
