Speaking in Hawaiian Practice with Letter Sounds

You will be listening to a live presentation on the different Hawaiian letter sounds starting with the consonants, H, K, L, M, N, P, W, ʻokina. Then you will listen to the vowel sounds and have an opportunity to listen, practice, and repeat the letters and sounds. There will also be a time of question and answers where students ask questions based on their understanding of the Hawaiian letter sounds. This is great practice for students because many times when one student has a question, others have the same or similar type questions and they can be addressed and answered at the same time to bring clarity to the class as a whole. These types of classes are very effective because based on the level of understanding of the students as individuals and as a whole, the practice helps to elevate everyone in their skills, practice, drills, pronunciation, and repetition.

Many times, students do not do well in their pronunciation and learning of new words and phrases in the target language because they do not have enough time to practice and listen to their own speaking as well as others speaking the language. Practicing and learning a language requires repetition and drills in order to correctly say the sounds. There needs to be time to listen and self-evaluate in order to make sure that they are applying the lessons correctly.
