  • Lifestyle Basics21:13

Here we will look at some of the basic things you need to do (and what you need to stop doing) in your life if you are to maximise your progress. Make sure you pay close attention to what you find here.

  • Who we are as people21:02

By gaining a better understanding of who we are and how we work best, we can make our learning smoother and easier. This area is too often ignored, more than possibly creating obstacles where there don't need to be any.

  • Mindset and Beliefs26:48

Without learning to develop beliefs and mindsets that support your learning, you are going to be pulling around a large heavy metal ball tied to your legs! That will surely slow you down and eventually may discourage you from doing any more work. So make sure you get rid of these weights!!

  • Listening, a missing key28:01

Listening is an integral and essential skill that you need to develop and learn to use to drive your learning. This skill is talked about by many BUT there are very few who really understand how this skill can be developed, not just used! Here you will get a look at what you need to "start" doing in order for your listening to develop. Right throughout this course, we will be concentrating on this skill, so this lesson is one you may need to return to later on.

  • The way you learn is critical to your success18:49

Here we will start to examine what will support your learning and the ways which will undermine your progress. Distinguishing ways of learning that empower you rather than disempower you will provide you with a touchstone that you can keep using.

  • Momentum, and energy not to mess with6:10

Momentum is a basic law of physics that needs to be understood and not ignored if you are to develop the kind of momentum that will see you keep improving.

Requirements

  • Be able to speak with some fluency and accuracy already. Anybody with at least IELTS 6 to 8.5 Or TOEFL 70 to 115
  • Need, interest AND desire to improve your speaking skills.
  • This course is NOT about improving your knowledge. It is firmly focussed on improving all the skills necessary to substantially improve your spoken English. So that must be what you are seeking.

Description

This online course is designed for Professionals whose first language is not English and who have already achieved a good level of spoken skills but find that they feel they are still held back in how they speak and how they are understood.

Typically these people are employed professionals, or ones seeking employment. These people need to achieve an accomplished level of mastery to be able to fulfill their duties and perform at a standard they and their managers, colleagues and clients are satisfied with. Of course, there may be others for whom this course would be appropriate.

This course will not be teaching you grammar rules and basic pronunciation. We assume that at an intermediate to advanced level, which you will need to be at to enroll in this course, you have already achieved a certain level of competence in these areas. Of course you may still have gaps in your understanding as well as your skills. These will be addressed as holes that need repair, not teaching you from scratch. Though of course if that is needed, that can also be done.

More typically at these levels you may well be struggling to express what you have already learned in a way that is at an acceptable level and that sounds confident and relaxed. The reason for this is typically to do with the practices you use. Use ones that aren't fit for purpose, then guess what? So, what you will learn here are effective, tested practices that can positively help you get the results you are after.

Try them out and you will be surprised at what you can achieve.

Who this course is for:

  • Professionals whose first language is not English and who have a need to speak English at a professional level. Typically, these kind of people have a need to be easily understood and not standout with pronunciation or expression that is too far from the norm. • These people have been typically been learning and using English for a while and have either got to a level that they can't seem to move on from OR are just progressing too slowly.
