Instructor
Alyssa is the founder and director of Habla Yoga, a community bilingual wellness and yoga project. She has been teaching since 2007, and is an E-RYT 500 (Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher) . She teaches yoga classes and workshops internationally for adults, youth, and families in both English and Spanish.
Habla Yoga was created after Alyssa returned to Oregon from serving with Peace Corps in Guatemala when she couldn't find any yoga classes offered in Spanish. She partnered with local yoga studios, Spanish schools, community organizations, elementary schools and libraries to offer accessible yoga classes and wellness education in Spanish and English.
She believes language should not be a barrier to access yoga, and has been dedicating her time and energy towards teaching and promoting bilingual yoga, wellness education, and teacher trainings. She facilitates workshops for yoga teachers on how to add Spanish vocabulary into their classes as well as working with language and school teachers on how to incorporate yoga, mindfulness, and wellness into the classrooms and public settings.
