
This lecture focuses on 'ed' past tense verb endings, which are never pronounced 'ed'.
You'll know the three ways that these verb endings are pronounced.
This course hits the key 'pain points' non-native speakers experience when speaking English.
Its aim is to raise awareness of issues, to help you understand some of the curiosities of spoken English and help you sound more natural.
The first part of this course is about pronunciation of words in English:
Use of the unstressed vowel, or 'schwa'
The pronunciation of regular past tense 'ed' verb endings
The sounds of 'plosive' letters - P,B,T,D,G and K and how they're used.
The second part is about the 'flow' of sentences and the short cuts that are used to enable the language to be spoken at speed:
Dropping letters in spoken English
Running words together in fast speech
The use of stress on key words improve comprehension
How to use expressions in conversation
The third part will be expanded to include some more examples of using English in various ways. The first one is about the use of sarcasm.
