Description

This course introduces students to basic practices for creating a song from start to finish.  An increasingly popular and my most successful song on Youtube currently is "I Come From a Land", a fantasy/modern medieval song I wrote about a young man of the forest and his lifestyle.  By request, a user asked me how i wrote the song, which is what inspired me to create this course.  The course is designed to walk students through the process I had for creating "I Come From a Land", while teaching principles on creating melody, creating chords, creating rhythm, creating a song, and writing song lyrics.  In this course I will be using the software FL Studio 12 and windows Notepad to illustrate how I created the song.  While it can be beneficial to own FL Studio (12 or later versions) and Notepad, it is completely optional and unnecessary for this course.  The principles and practices I outline can be transferred and applied to many different methods for writing songs.  If you play an instrument, or use other software packages, you can still fully gain from the knowledge I provide in this course, as my methods can be broadly and universally used.  Even if you don't have any software and you don't play an instrument, you can still be inspired by the songwriting principles and practices I provide.  There is something for every level of learning in this course.

Who this course is for:

  • LIsteners who enjoyed the modern medieval song "I Come From a Land", and want to learn more.
  • Beginners who are interested in learning basic songwriting techniques (NOTE: I use FL Studio 12, though you are not required to use this for this course)
  • Music lovers of all walks of life who are open-minded.
