Once you spend all of your money you can always make more, but once you have spent your time it's gone forever. Effective time management produces the greatest results for any salesperson.

In this lesson, we will discuss your personal relationship with time. We will discuss the three force areas: Technical Errors, External Realities, and Psychological Obstacles stealing your time. You will learn how to quickly identify and resolve time-wasting activities as well as give you tools to identify what's important, where to focus and what to offload.

None of us are capable of doing everything. The richest people in the world share one common trait, FOCUS. Once you learn how to FOCUS, you will be able to drastically increase your sales and income.

Time Management, Take Charge of Your Time

If you want to be a better salesperson, leader, owner, spouse or friend you must be able to and you must understand what this means. In this module, we are going to discuss how personality tendencies affect communication and give you the tools to identify the different types as well as a proven method for you to speak in their voice.

Most of us do not listen to understand we listen to reply. You know you do it. The whole time the other person is talking you are busy formulating your response in your head. Its time to stop.

Communication is limited by multiple filters and to communicate effectively you must remove the filters. In organizations, filters are created by the structure. They are never intentional, but they do happen. You need to be able to recognize these filters and work around them to ensure your message gets to the right people.

More importantly, perspective changes depending on your level in the organization. The boss may have a different perspective that the line workers. This doesn’t necessarily mean its better. Middle management can serve as one of the biggest filters to your sales efforts and getting the message to the owner. They may be trying to protect their current supplier or job. They may just be paranoid. Until you understand the filters in play and can speak to people in their voice, not yours you will struggle with success.

Your secret weapon in all of this is your personality. You must know yourself to be yourself, but more importantly, know your client and communicate in a way that they will hear you and they will understand you.

Your personality type drives how you communicate. It drives how you speak, how you listen and how you comprehend.

We use the DiSC model because it is easy to understand and can be used to quickly determine a person’s personality tendencies. We are going to make this even easier to understand by leveraging a technique from the book by Merrick Rosenburg and Daniel Silvert, Taking Flight. They equate each personality type to a different bird to help us identify the different types of personality tendencies we encounter.
