Hello! Thank you for signing up to Social Media Management for Creatives!
This course is catered to actors and models but with creativity, this can also be applied in many other ways. For example, recycling content for restaurants or your business, generating hype for a film or show, or even creating a marketing plan for a crowdfunding campaign. What you will learn through this course can be used for a variety of things. You just have to think outside the box.
n this course, I will go over…
How to find and retrieve some of your work
Content organization
Posting, more specifically Instagram as it is a great platform to act as a portfolio for your work.
Some handy tools; both free and paid.
And next steps to implement what you learned.
The goal of this course is to help you utilize social media and have it play a bigger part in your career. If you are going to invest, invest in yourself!
For film and tv, you can use sites like actorfootage.com that you can pay to pull your scenes.
I will show you ways you can retrieve your content as well as the various platforms you may find your work. I will also be focusing on how to find and download your videos and images from google ads, facebook ads, amazon and websites. Many commercial productions like to run social media campaigns and unless you fit their marketing demographic, you may just never see anything.
I am going to show you real examples of the methods I use to retrieve content.
Important to note:
Keep track of your callsheets
Follow the production company, brand, and director on social media
Network with your peers
How to “save as”: With your mouse, hover over the image or video and right click. There will be a popup, click “save as.”
You will need to pay attention to the file type.
All platforms require certain file types and that is .jpg, .png, .mov, and .mp4.
Save photos/images as a .jpg, .png or .webp/web browser file.
Webp/web brower files will require an extra step to convert to a jpg or png.
Save as “Webpage, complete”.
Works only for photos! Not videos
This will appear in your folders as 2 items, web browser and zip file. The image you are looking for will be in the zip file.
Save video as .mov or .mp4 files
F12 is a last resort option when everything you have tried, doesn’t work.
When you press the F12 key, you will see on your window that the website has shifted a little and there is a section that looks like a bunch of coding.
An important thing to note here is that somewhere in these lines of code, there is a link to the photo or video you are looking for.
You need to be in the “elements” tab. You would click these little arrows on the left and they expand that section. Whichever line you hover over, you will see in the website window areas being highlighted. That is the area that line is pertained to.
If you are looking for a photo or video, start at the top and hover each line until that section of the website is highlighted.
I will show you where you can find Facebook Ads. Often times for commercial shoots, the promotional material created is used for online marketing ads. These ads are then targeted to a specific audience so if you do not fit that demographic, you may never see the ad. And you can’t exactly Google these materials either. I will show you a handy way to proactively look for the ads you may be in.
Important to Note:
Check usage terms in actors/talent release forms

Now, you can create your own type of organization but here is how I handle my folders. First I would create a folder and label it with the name of the “Brand” or “Film Title”
If I were to restart from scratch, I would actually label it by “Date_Brand/Film Title_Production Company”
I would start with the year first, then month, then day. I would then Add the Brand or film title, and then production company. The reason why I would do this is so that when you sort your folder contents, they will be sorted by when you had worked on that production. But that is if I were to start all over.
Next, I would create 2 folder within that folder.
The first is “Documents”, here you will add all of your call sheets for your records and any important signed releases and paperwork.
The 2nd folder is “Content.” Within the folder, create these folders “Downloaded,” “Uploaded” and if you want a folder for “BTS.”
Downloaded is for the files you have retrieved, and uploaded is where you moved the downloaded files once you have uploaded or scheduled it for release.
Again, you can organize your content however you like, but this is what I would recommend to stay organized.
Storage options. You can organize your photos and videos on your phone but that can take a ton of space. And your laptop and desktop is an option but then that content may not be readily available to you when you need it.
Here are 2 options:
Thumbdrive
Or a cloud service
Important things to note:
Evergreen content! Your work is evergreen content that you can post on your social media.
I advise people to post at least 2-3 times a week.
Have variety in your content! Show your personality and your work.
Captions! Tag the production company, casting agency/agent, talent agency, brand, director, other talent, etc!
Now this takes a little bit more work but you can use the Meta Business Suite to schedule your posts. This is the free option and it works well. If you are tight on a budget, this is the method I recommend.
I chose MeetEdgar because it is
Very simple and easy that gets real results
Has a limitless content library
Content queuing and automated delivery
Easy post recycling and repeating evergreen content
With everything you have learned, now is the time to implement!
Every month, set aside…
1 day (3-4 hours) to research, schedule and upload your posts.
30 minutes every day to engage with people on social media.
Common issues I hear from actors, models and creatives…
I know I should post on social media but I have no time
It is too much work
I don’t even know what to post
I don’t think I have enough to post
I don’t want to spam my account and annoy people
I don’t know where to start
Well do not worry! In this course, you will learn how to retrieve your work, organize your content and automate your posting process! You just have to set aside a few hours at the end of every month.

Why was this course created?
Building our portfolio is tough. We are rarely sent the work we did and we can’t exactly contact the production company. It would be unprofessional to chase them for the work. Or we just never see it.
We understand the importance of social media but we just don’t know what to post or we just have no time.
I wanted to make this course to help other models and actors to find some of their work and also to market themselves better on social media. Plain and simple.
