In this video, the participants will begin by exploring the concepts of domination and oppression and how they relate to the concept of social justice.

In this video, we will explore the concepts of power and privilege and how they relate to the concept of social justice.
Oppression and Marginalisation10:58
In this video, we will learn how oppression and marginalisation overlap and how they can shape and influence social justice.

Understanding Intersectionality6:03
In this video, we will together spend time to unpack the theoretical underpinnings of intersectionality as a concept as was defined by Kimberle Crenshaw. We will also understand the concept through the 'Wheels of Intersectionality' developed by CRIAW / ICREF and explore how individual identities are connected with larger structures of oppression.

In this video we will unpack the different ways in which intersectionality can be understood. This includes structural intersectionality, political intersectionality, representational intersectionality and experiential intersectionality.

Description

Social justice and feminist leadership are intrinsically tied together as one is incomplete without the other: one cannot practice social justice without feminist leadership, and one cannot be a feminist leader if they are not centering social justice in their leadership practice. This is an introductory course on social justice and feminist leadership and is designed to equip all change-makers with an important foundational understanding of these core concepts along with providing an insight into all related concepts as well such as power, privilege, oppression, and feminism as well.

We hope you are able to learn about social justice and feminist leadership through this course and develop your own leadership capacity and lead social change in your communities.

Through the course, the participants will be able to:

Have a foundational understanding of social justice and feminist leadership practices;
Apply these concepts and practices to their everyday lives; and,
Use this knowledge in leading social-change work within their micro-communities.
