The course is given in colloquial Arabic with English commentary and notes. The colloquial Arabic used in the course can be understood in Syria, Lebanon, Jordan and Palestine. The Introduction explains how to pronounce the English phonetic transliteration and there are notes on language and culture in each lesson to allow better understanding of the meaning for some of the common words. In addition, each lesson includes the usual meaning in English of the expression, plus a more precise translation if noticeably different from the usual meaning.
