Learn how to track Cortex Code usage, calculate token and credit cost, and estimate dollar spend using Snowflake Account Usage views and notebooks for cost monitoring and optimization.
Learn GitHub integration, push/pull workflows, and version control for Snowflake SQL development using Cortex Code and without writing any command (SQL Script) manually.
Learn how to enable Snowflake Cortex Code on GCP, handle model authorization issues, configure cross-region settings, and understand latency vs cost implications.
This chapter demonstrates how an existing end-to-end data pipeline built in Snowflake using the medallion architecture (Bronze, Silver, Gold layers) can be rapidly migrated into a DBT (dbt core) project using Snowflake Cortex Code. Instead of manually rewriting SQL transformations, the process leverages AI-driven automation to generate the complete DBT structure, including configuration files, source definitions, staging models, and final analytical models.
Cortex Code reads previously developed SQL scripts and automatically creates DBT models for each layer. The Bronze layer is defined through source configurations, the Silver layer contains staging transformations, and the Gold layer includes dimension and fact tables. The system also compiles the generated models to validate SQL correctness.
This chapter introduces Snowflake’s Snap & Ask feature, showing how to analyze cost anomalies using natural language. By leveraging Cortex Code and Cost Intelligence, users can quickly identify spending patterns, understand usage drivers, and even automate actions like budget alerts—without writing SQL.
Stop writing SQL manually. Start building pipelines 10x faster with Snowflake Cortex Code.
If you are a Snowflake data engineer/developer spending most of your time writing SQL/Python scripts (DDL, DML,COPY commands, and transformation SQL and so on) — this course will fundamentally change how you work.
Snowflake Cortex Code is an AI-powered coding assistant built directly into the Snowsight web UI. No external tools. No plugins. No CLI. You describe what you want, and Cortex Code writes, executes, and validates the SQL for you — while you focus on the design and the outcome.
In this course, you will build a complete, production-grade, end-to-end data pipeline in under 2 hours — without writing a single line of SQL manually.
The Use Case We use an Apple-like global product sales scenario with 13 source tables spanning geography, product hierarchy, and sales transactions — the kind of real-world data complexity you encounter on actual projects.
What You Will Build Following the Medallion Architecture, you will:
Design databases and schemas by feeding an architecture blueprint directly to Cortex Code
Upload CSV files via Snowsight and let Cortex Code create load the data into bronze layer.
Build Silver and move the data from bronze (cleansed & curated data)
Create Gold layer Fact and Dimension tables — a full star schema with relationships.
Build a Semantic layer with Cortex Analyst Semantic Views for natural language querying
Implement Delta processing and automate end to end pipeline for newly arriving data.
Everything from prompts and specifications. Nothing written by hand.
Who Is This For? Anyone currently working with Snowflake who wants to dramatically improve their productivity. All you need is a free Snowflake trial account — there is no additional cost or infrastructure dependency.
This is not a screen navigation tutorial. This is a real pipeline, built with real data, the way you would build it on a real project — except 10x faster.
