Introduce yourself to the User Interface of Structural 3D, the most powerful and versatile module that SkyCiv offers.
The backbone of every 3D structure starts with Nodes. They identify points in 3D space that can connect members, loads, and plates.
Learn about modeling Plates and useful Operations that will help streamline the entire modeling process.
Learn how to apply the variety of load types available in Structural 3D: Point Loads, Area Loads, Pressures
Use this video to learn about how to manage your Structural 3D file, saving practices and other relative workflows.
This video will teach you the basics of manipulating Structural 3D after running the structural analysis on your structure.
Get introduced to the SkyCiv Beam module and how easy it is to model nearly any beam.
Apply these three types of loads to a beam at any point: Point Loads, Distributed Loads, Moments
See how clear-cut the results presentation is and how to apply a real section to the 2D beam.
With a section applied, take a look at the more important metrics: Deflection and Stress
With a completed analysis, export results for professional use with clients and members of the design team.
In this "What's Next?" section, see what the design process is like post-analysis. Check the steel member with the AISC specifications.
Download and spend some time reading through the topics presented in the AISC 360 Specifications. Try to connect the principles and equations you learned in class with the equations presented in the prevailing chapters of the specs.
Use this lecture to learn what needs to be a part of your design report and what can be shown in exportable, detailed Member Design Report from the SkyCiv Member Design module.

SkyCiv Structural Engineering for Students will either re-enforce topics you have learned in class or help you grasp new ones that aren't covered. One of the main goals of the course is to use real examples to help you bridge the gap from college coursework to the industry, as well as expose you to topics that aren't usually covered in undergraduate curriculum. If you have never been used structural engineering software, this course will give you a great idea of the ideal workflows used in practice through the use of the SkyCiv platform.
If you want to work alongside the examples in this course as well as the other courses, you can complete the majority of tasks with a SkyCiv Student Account, which you can sign up for directly from the SkyCiv website.
The two major components of this course are an introduction and demo of SkyCiv’s 3D structural modeling software and its capabilities, as well as a walk-through of a 2D steel beam analysis and design using SkyCiv’s intuitive Beam module. At the end of the steel beam analysis, there will be a few “What’s Next?” lectures that will go through and expose you to steel member design in accordance with AISC 360. The features used in those lectures are not available with a SkyCiv Student account.
