Course content

1 section8 lectures50m total length
  • Opening the Stance - Hoi Ma8:40

Opening the Stance which is Cantonese for Hoy Ma is the first thing we need to learn in Wing Chun as the Stance itself hold many qualities such as building up your leg muscles, teaching you about structure in that your legs make up two parts of a pyramid which when pressed down on is very hard to collapse.

  • Pak Biu - Tan Gaan6:15

In this lesson we explore your first hand positions and these in Cantonese are pak sau translating to pressing hand and tan sau which when translated to english is palm upwards hand did you note the cantonese word Sau this word translated is hand.

  • Punching6:35

Wing Chun punching is very unique and in this lesson you will learn how to do that, it does require a lot of practice to get your punching hand to fire straight forward, but that is where the focus should be, and not on the returning hand.

  • San Bai Fut10:17

San Bai Fut translated from Cantonese is Three Prayers to Buddha, what this is all about is learning to put tension on the elbow and learning to keep the elbow one fist distance from the body and in alignment on the border of the outside and inside gate... shh! ... i just made your Wing Chun awesome and hard to beat... Don't tall anyone lol

  • Hand Drills From Man Sau5:51

These are the primary hand positions that will help right from the beginning of the system to improve your chances of survival, a block is a block and a punch is a punch, make sure the block works using Wing Chun principles and also become skilful when punching by this i mean hit hard when you need to and hit lightly to make a point, but know in which situations to use each.

  • Pak Sau timing Drills4:31

The Pak Sau translated to english means pressing hand, one of the quickest ways to create a bridge in Wing Chun which is basically a point of contact between your arm/hand and someone else's allows you to use your skills developed later on so you can find you way through the fight with out relying on your eyes.. this is where is all starts.

  • Footwork4:25

Footwork or in Cantonese Ma is the foundation of the whole system, if your footwork is incorrect you will struggle to do Wing Chun well and you will loose balance and be pushed and pulled off balance easily, so take time to practice this to the Nth degree

  • 1000 Punches4:11

Can you do a 1000 Wing Chun chain punches in 3 minutes and 51 seconds.. no?

    Better go practice then :-)
