Instructor
I lecture on High Voltage - Low Voltage Regulations, Mechanical Regulations, Risk Assessment, Root Cause Analysis, Situation Awareness Training in the Manufacturing, Industrial and Commercial industries.
Historically, I have been training people (Kids and Adults alike) since I have been 14 years old, practicing martial arts as a teenager with my own Dojo, progressing to Military service after school, became an Instructor, training Infantry soldiers for 12 years and spending time in, and training in military Intelligence during the same period in the Military Reserve Services with Situation Awareness skills as a crucial element in Bush War tactical skills and training the Public and Farmers in Situation Awareness Observation Skills during the 1980's with regards to looking for "Sign" of hostile trespassing on their properties and in general when going about their day-to-day business.
Working in the Power Generation Industry since 1980, I train new staff in the Power Generating Industry, relating to Auxiliary Plant, Boilers and Turbines, Electrical Operating Desk (Control Room operations), presenting Electrical (HV & LV) and Mechanical Regulations, Risk Assessment, Arc Flash Protection, for Operating Staff, Maintenance Staff, as well as Contractors' staff. Situation Awareness 360 Concept training is added to the Risk Assessment training process to enhance Hazard Mitigation abilities.
I also regularly present Situation Awareness 360 overview training, on request, in the form of a Morning Workshop to businesses and Contractors, for employees from Managers right down to illiterate labourers, to highlight the necessity of "learning to pay attention to what you are doing" to improve safety culture. I find that even experienced Safety Officers and Safety Managers find the concept and principles of Situation Awareness 360 surprisingly informative as a supplement to their formal Safety Training regimes.
To me that is not surprising, as Situation Awareness principles as a specialized subject, is not presented as part of any safety training anywhere in the world, except that "Continuous Risk monitoring, Near miss reporting, etc." is stated as a statuary requirement in Regulatory Requirements, but does not state "How". Naturally, standard, run-of-the-mill Risk Assessment training does not cover this specialized training skills in general, which makes it an absolute necessity to make this training part and parcel of your safety training programs.
This course will teach you how to develop your Observation Skills and learn how to train your brain to intentionally pay attention to what happens around you and pay attention to detail when the situation requires you to.
