Description
There are many health benefits to singing from lowering high blood pressure to improving your emotions. In fact, it stimulates every atom in your body giving you an atomic massage! It makes people happy and acts as a vehicle to let out pent up emotions. It's a wonderful release.
When you sing, through resonance behaviour, other people can feel how you are feeling and so singing acts as a great communication tool. when words aren't enough, you can always sing your heart out. It's also good for positive mental health and when we sing together, our heartbeats synchronise. How amazing is that?
In this course you will learn a great vocal technique that will improve your breathing, resonance, range and flexibility. You will, through practice be able to achieve a higher level of ability according to how much you engage with your passion for singing and music. Practice is essential.
This course offers exercises that are perfect for beginners and intermediate vocalists plus lectures on how to develop your unique sound, a live lesson or two demonstrating emotional engagement, the art of listening and much more. The singers in the video are students except one celeb, Leona Skimming, who demonstrates some of the exercises. Just a word of warning, hardly ANYONE sounds good exercising so don't be disheartened if you think you sound rough. We all do! It's like going to the gym and getting sweaty and looking in the mirror wishing you looked a million dollars! Don't worry, do the work and you will eventually succeed. The more time you put in, the better the results will be.
Who this course is for:
- Beginners to intermediate level who are passionate about singing
Instructor
I had my first hit record with Stock, Aitken and Waterman's PWL age 20 when I was signed as a recording artist to Chrysalis Records. The song was called 'Tonight's the night' and was a spring board into the music biz. I then spent 20 years signed as a performing artist and songwriter to Sony Music, Warner Chappell and Capitol USA to name a few. During this time I studied under the mentorship of Glynne Jones who was one of the best voice coaches in the UK teaching the likes of Annie Lennox, Elton Jon Shirley Bassey and even Will Young. I had an excellent recording studio in London and toured during the 90s.
Inspired by my mentor, I became a voice coach whilst still writing songs and performing and got a first class degree in Music in a year from the University of Wolverhampton. I have been successfully teaching now for over 25 years and have met the most wonderful people from beginners to professionals who have all benefitted from my coaching.
