Simple Seascape Painting Mini-Course in Acrylics

Blend and transition colours seamlessly to create a colour gradient that will form the foundation of your seascape painting.

Adding essential elements is the second step in my 4 step process.   In the case of the simple seascape, that means adding some waves.

Blocking in the basic shapes and colours of the waves before fine-tuning the details will save a lot of repainting over mistakes.  Once the waves have been placed on the canvas we can start to make them look more 3-dimensional, that is show their form with some light and shade.

Zoom in on the finer details as we paint the foam in the shore wash, making it appear to float above the sand.

You will more than likely find this to be the most challenging part of your seascape painting so extra attention has been given to this subject.

Small finishing touches are what will turn your painting from a nice picture into an impressive work of art. 

The techniques in this lesson will not only give your painting a wow factor and come in very handy for any larger, more detailed seascape paintings you may want to create in the future.
