Shop Safety 101 - The definitive guide to shop safety

There are few workplace activities fraught with more potential for operator harm than working in a metal, wood, or other type of workplace shop. It is crucial that workers become aware of the perils of working in these shops and how to protect themselves.

We recognize that the scope of work which may be undertaken is wide and utilizes an extensive range of powered tools and machinery. As such, we have specific subjects focusing on the proper and safe use of the most common of these, including welding, power presses, powder-actuated tools, ladders, lasers, wheels and rims, hand and power tools, and crane and hoists. We also teach the basic principles of most critical elements of keeping safe in a shop, such as LOTO, signage, PPE, basic first aid, and understanding the proper use of safety equipment such as machine guards, eye wash stations, and fire extinguishers.

Having a thorough knowledge of the best safety practices and behaviors in the shop is vital to keeping workers safe, and in this course, we ensure that our students will have a strong understanding of these principles.

This course is intended to provide safety and health training in compliance with Federal OSHA and State OSHA training requirements such as CalOSHA. If you have questions, you may ask our instructors, and they will respond to you within a short period of time, as outlined by OSHA standards.

The training will cover all of the required elements outlined in Federal and State OSHA standards to ensure that your training meets or exceed the minimum required training. If your training has a time requirement, the content of the training has been designed to meet that requirement.

The training is developed by our in-house, real trainers with twenty years of experience working in the field and with real crews, and who are trusted by public agencies throughout California.

There are no prerequisites required for this course. The course will walk you through all of the elements required to be successful and complete any questions, quizzes, or testing that may be required.
