Source Filmmaker beginner guide covers creating a session, setting 24 fps, loading maps, and navigating the three-panel workspace (primary viewport, animation set, timeline) to start your first short film.
Explore making your sequence in Source Filmmaker by switching between game and movie worlds, placing a character, recording runs with the third person camera, and managing takes on the timeline.
Learn to add different shots in the sequence by editing the timeline: cut with B, switch cameras, expand tracks, and name each shot; practice basic clip copy-paste and slow motion.
Switch to the sound editing layout in Source Filmmaker, then add music, dialogue, and effects, adjust timing, and apply fades to synchronize audio with video.
Learn to make a shot from scratch in Source Filmmaker, import a model, place it with 3d manipulators, adjust joints, and save the animation using the animation set.
Learn to generate motion in SFM by selecting the object and time, creating an animation set for the camera, trimming transitions, and zooming with the field of view.
Export your Source Filmmaker project as a movie, choose video formats and destination, and learn post-export options while previewing upcoming topics like curves for motion, puppeteering, and lighting.
Source Filmmaker - Class For Beginners
This is the first, one and only, Source Filmmaker (SFM) class online.
Once I realized that there are no SFM courses online, I immediately had to make one!
This course is created for absolute beginners, people who never worked with Source Filmmaker.
Things you will learn in this class:
1)Starting Out & The Interface Of SFM
2)Making Our First Sequence
3)Add Different Shots In The Sequence
4)Adding Sound - Music, Sound Effects, etc.
5)Making A Shot From Scratch And Importing Elements
6)Generate Motion From Scratch - What, When, How
7)Final Stop - Exporting
If I see enough interest in this class, I will update it weekly and show you how to create professional animations. For now, you will learn how to use the program and how to create basic Animation Films, which I personally think is enough for a beginner to start using this program!
There's also our Class Project so make sure you check it out.
