    QUESTION: ATS systems are much more advanced today, so are the formatting tips taught in this course absolutely necessary?

    ANSWER: Yes, ATS systems are evolving rapidly and formatting is "probably" not an issue for the newer systems.  However, you never know which system the company you are applying to uses. If it's a tech company, most likely the software is modernized, however if it's a governmental agency the ATS system may be extremely old.  It does not hurt to error on the side of caution - e.g. focus on the lowest common denominator.


    QUESTION: Can I use a PDF or .DOCX doc?

    ANSWER: We can safely assume PDF, .DOCX and .DOCX are all pretty safe formats to use in all systems at this point.


    QUESTION: What is a major course takeaway?

    ANSWER: Formatting is not the only takeaway from the course. Of course you should pay attention to formatting so that it is easy to read from both a human and computer standpoint, however A major takeaway should be "Relevancy."  Is your resume HIGHLY relevant to job description, which in turn is highly relevant to the job offered.
