If you have a unique product to sell that is part of your own brand or you are importing then you will need to create your own listing. This lesson will take you step by step through the process.

When someone buys one of your products Amazon will send you an email informing you that it need to be posted. Included will be all the delivery details. Delivery of your products needs to be done as quick as possible to keep the customer happy and maintain a good seller rating with Amazon.

You have two choices:- The Basic plan which is for people who want to start out small with only fewer than 35 items a month. This is a set rate which is only charged when you sell an item. The Pro Plan is for people who are going to be selling more than 35 items a month and they a monthly fee which works out cheaper than paying the the individual fees.

How Sell a Little Pricing Works

Pricing for Sell a Little consists of three different fees, charged on a per-item basis when the item is bought:

This fee depends on the category the item belongs to and the destination of the order.

Referral Fee

Sellers pay a referral fee on each item sold. This fee depends on the category the item belongs to and it will be charged on the total sum paid for the item by the buyer, including all applicable taxes and customs fees. Items in some categories have a per-item minimum referral fee as listed below (i.e., sellers pay the greater of the referral fee or the per-item minimum referral fee).

For media products (books, music, video, DVD, software, and video games), Amazon deducts the applicable referral fee percentage calculated on the item price.
For non-media products, AMZ deduct the greater of the applicable referral fee percentage or applicable per-item minimum referral fee calculated on the total sales price (the total amount paid by the buyer including the item price and any shipping or gift wrap charges).

Per-item Fee

As a “sell a little” seller, you pay £0.75 per item sold, instead of paying the subscription fee of £25 per month.

When you Sell a Lot, you enjoy maximum value if you sell in volumes above 35 items per month. It's ideal if you're selling regularly online, and want to take advantage of the additional Sell a Lot benefits like 1-Click.

How Sell a Lot Pricing works

Monthly subscription fee

As a “sell a lot” seller, you pay £25 per month, instead of paying the per-item fee of £0.75 per item sold on amazon.co.uk.

Getting your listing right and presented well is extremely important and will make or break it in terms of whether you get the sale or your competition does. Amazon is very a competitive marketplace but if you follow what is taught in these next few sections your listings will standout from your competitions and sit above them.

Before we get started on creating the listing we need find out what our customers are typing to search for our product. This process is very important because including these keywords into our listing not only identifies us with the customer but is also what Amazon is looking for when placing our product listing for the customer to see.

The more relevant keywords we have, that are related to the customers search, the more often we will appear for that search and the more prominent the position.

Creating a brand new listing on Amazon can take a good few hours and it is good practice to have as much ready as possible to save time and get the maximum result.

When starting out in product photography it can be very easy to get overwhelmed with all the options that are available.

The chances are you will be either using an iPhone, an SLR or an DSLR camera to take your product snaps. If you are using an iPhone or other type of smart phone then you will be pretty much ok with settings as they are all taken care of automatically. Here we will step by step through the entire process of taking you first product photos. This can seem like a daunting task as all of a sudden there are many different things to take into account. e.g lighting, camera position, product position(s), camera settings and much more.

Taking a good photo, especially in the early stages of product photography career, is only half the battle. Once you have your images saved onto your computer you will need to edit them. Chill! you ahvnt done anything wrong all pictures need some editing and touching up to make them look better and so they fit with Amazons guidelines.

The software we use is called Gimp and is FREE! Gimp is basically like Photoshop and is very powerful but easy to use to make your images look their best.

80% of product descriptions are terrible! Fact!

There is a process that all customers will go through when choosing to buy from you on Amazon. Firstly they will see your product title and the amazing product images that you have put and click on the link to the listing. They will then be met by the buy box, more of your product images and the product bullet points.

After looking through this a lot of people will be happy and click the buy button. But about 40% wont. They will want more information and product specs. If there is nothing down there but more links off the page to other products then there is a good chance that they will click off your page.

If there is a giant block of text then that wont get read either and you could well loose the sale as the customer has not found out what they wanted to know.

Having a compelling sales page with great written copy that is well laid out will clinch the deal and leave your competition in the dust.

Learning what a customer is thinking and feeling when looking at your listing is an art and will take a bit of time to understand. You need to start thinking like the customer when looking over your listing also when you are doing your own shopping make a note about what you are focusing on, where you go on the listing and what you click on.

If you leave the listing without buying remember to note down why you left the listing.

When a customer is about to read your description they are pretty much looking for more information on the product that the images, title and bullet points couldn't provide. They are also into what you have to offer and are ready to be sold to.

If a customer gets to your description and there is only one line there telling them something they already know or is non existent then there is a very good chance you are going to loose them. This is very sloppy and lazy on the sellers behalf.

I have seen other descriptions that look amazing but then talk about the company or there brand that is selling the item.... ZZZZZZZZZZ! A customer has not got to this stage because they wnat to know about you! All the customer cares about is more information on the product and how the product is going to change their life. That's it!

NO ONE CARES ABOUT YOU, THEY ONLY CARE ABOUT THEMSELVES

We are going to design our descriptions using the AIDA principals and if your description is planned out well then it should work a treat.

Attention - Interest - Desire - Action

As stated in the last lecture we will be using AIDA, so to get our customers attention we will start with an attention grabbing headline. This will work great because when the customer is scrolling down the page looking for more information on the product the headline will grab their attention.

This is pretty much what a headline is for, get people looking. Newspapers have been doing it for hundreds of years.

In this lecture we will cover how to structure you headline so it not only stands out but has what the customer wants to read and continue reading. We will show how to create great headline with ease.

Using the ROT formula we will go through how to make headlines that get readers to take action and read further.

Some products are not allowed to be stored in or shipped from Amazon fulfilment centres. Take the time to research Amazon policies regarding restricted products.

Any product that is or contains a liquid, powder, paste or a battery could potentially be considered hazardous material (Haz Mat). Examples include, but are not limited to cleaners, cosmetics, sprays, gas cartridges, glues and paints. Depending on the
elements they contain, products in the following categories may be classified as Hazmat.
