Course content

1 section6 lectures1h 1m total length
  • Neuroscience - Our electric brain10:13

In the first lecture of this course you will learn about early brain development and a crash course on brainwaves and how they reflect in our behavior. We will talk on how to properly stimulate a child’s brain from the earliest age so it could create more connections and neural pathways. In the second part of the lecture you will learn the importance of play, and how it helps child development. In the practice part you will see a few games you can play with your child.

  • Neuroscience - Evolutional development of the brain10:25

In order to understand a child’s behavior, we first must understand the evolutional development of the brain. Through this lecture we will explain how different parts of the brain have developed and how your child could behave when each of these parts are active. We will also explain how your child’s brain works in particular moments and how brainwaves steer its behaviors. Finally we will talk about different types of attachment and what kind of behavior you can expect from a child depending on the type of attachment it has developed. In the practice part learn new games you can play with your child in order to help him develop healthy self-regulation skills.

  • Neuroscience - Calming the brain9:20

In previous lecture we learned about the evolutional development of the brain and how children behave when different parts are active. In this lecture you will learn how to calm a child when different parts of the brain are active and how to help the child move from one part to another and regulate its behavior. You will also learn about empathic reflection and concrete solutions and sentences you can use in order to help your child regulate. In the play part of the lecture you will find examples of games that are soothing and help the child calm his nervous system.

  • Neuroscience - Temperment - Our genetic code for reactions6:49

In lecture 4 we talk about temperament and its determinants. You will learn how different determinants and their combination makes our temperament, which is the basis for our behaviors. You will also find a questionnaire that you can fill out in order to determine the temperament of your child. In the play parts find out about the importance of aggressive play, but also see examples of soothing and fun activities for your child.

  • Neuroscience - Setting up the tent of boundries14:51

You have learned the basic neuroscience that underlies self-regulation and now it is time for you to learn how to set up the tent of boundaries. In this lecture we explain into detail how to set boundaries to your child in a loving and caring manner. You will see examples of children’s behavior and recommendations for proper reactions. You will find out how to help the child learn self-regulation skills according to your proper reactions to his behavior. This lecture will be your guide in the future and also something you will be doing on a daily basis.

  • Neuroscience - What we have learned9:23

The final lecture is a recap of what we learned, and it summarizes the most important notes that every course participant / participant should carry after going through this course. After this lecture you should be able to memorize the most important facts about the neuroscience of self-regulation, but also how to properly set up boundaries to help your child learn healthy self-regulation skills.

Requirements

  • No prior experience, tools, or knowledge of neuroscience is required. All concepts are clearly explained using real-life examples, animations, and visual aids to support easy and effective learning.

Description

Supporting a child's emotional growth is not easy—but it can be easier with the right tools. In this course you'll discover neuroscience-backed strategies to strengthen children's self-regulation skills in real-life situations. Whether you are a parent, teacher, or child therapist, you'll learn how to guide children toward better emotional control, resilience, and independence.

You'll explore brain development and learn how different brain regions influence a child's behavior — and more importantly, how to use practical, science-based techniques to support emotional development. We'll also explain the different attachment styles children can develop and how each one is reflected in their behavior.

You'll gain insight into temperament — the foundation of individual behavior — and be able to identify your child's temperament through a structured questionnaire provided in the bonus downloadable materials.

Play has a vital role in a child's development. In this course, you'll learn how to become their play partner and stimulate brain growth through fun, purposeful activities. Every lecture includes a "Let's play" section with real-life examples you can apply right away.

By the end of the course, you'll understand the basics of the neuroscience behind children's behavior and feel confident supporting emotional regulation in a healthy, respectful, and effective way.

The course is produced to the highest standards and includes real-life examples, case scenarios, animations, and visual aids to support easy understanding. The tools you’ll learn are simple to apply and can be used immediately — whether at home, in the classroom, or in therapeutic settings.
