Confidence in yourself really changes the way you approach every situation, the way others see it, and the way you get out of every interaction. Let's see how trust is important from an evolutionary point of view.
In the previous video we have seen how, from an evolutionary point of view, trust is important for survival and for the choice of mate and reproduction of the species. Now we will also see how the same thing happens with social interactions.
Be yourself to build true self-confidence by owning your interests and speaking your mind. Develop poise by reading social cues, avoiding overcompensation, and showing kindness and generosity to inspire others.
Perhaps the biggest handicap that comes with a lack of confidence is that it limits your ability to act.
There are some apparent signs that you have confidence, such as being able to act decisively, having faith in your own decisions, and not hesitating to take action.
But the problem is that these signs don't really always equate to having confidence.
You can be very happy and safe with yourself or with your own company, but at the same time you can be a very indecisive person to act.
Why does this happen?
They influence more than we would like to admit. Learning to deal with them will increase our ability to act safely.
Now that we have seen what risk aversion is and its relation to trust, we are going to see two more concepts that you have to take into account:
Social pressure and dilution of responsibility.
You already have a good image of what it means to have confidence. It means that you are not trying to impress anyone, but at the same time, you have the confidence to be completely yourself, to speak and crucially, to act. You don't doubt yourself, you just see what needs to be done and you do it.
If we ourselves feel insecure at first, it is easy for that insecurity to settle inside us and even settle in our pattern of behavior. You will tend to behave insecurely in many aspects of your life, in important and non-important situations. And this, needless to say, will affect you deeply. In this video we will see how to combat it.
Cognitive behavioral therapy includes its own approach to solving problems with our thinking, which can be classified under the title "cognitive restructuring". Cognitive restructuring essentially means that you can "reprogram" the way you interpret events and the way you think about future events.
Chemicals affect our mood, and our mood affects our behavior, decisions, and performance.
However, if you can't control your chemical balance, are there other options? On paper, yes. But we will see here that it is not always a good idea to take this route.
If you use the strategies seen in the previous videos, you can feel much more confident, above the panic reaction that many people face in social situations.
Now we are going to talk about how to develop such self-esteem and so much confidence that you don't even worry that something you say may go wrong.
In the previous videos we have seen key guidelines to increase your confidence enormously your confidence. But there is something even more powerful: discover and identify your mission.
Trust is closely linked to success.
Without it, it is impossible to achieve it.
The flow states we've talked about earlier are highly associated with start-ups and companies that are really passionate about what they do and reportedly make those companies much more productive and ultimately much most successful.
Confidence can also increase your chance of success through something known as the law of attraction. This law dictates that the thoughts (emotions, beliefs, desires, etc.) that a person possesses (whether they are conscious or unconscious), cause consequences related to what is desired.
The ways to improve your confidence that we've talked about address the root causes of low esteem and help you train yourself to deal with panic and anxiety responses.
All of this does a lot to improve your esteem, but you can also feel more secure in a more direct and "superficial" way. That simply means changing the things about you that we most often associate with esteem.
That means, in particular, the way you look.
An incredible tool to improve your confidence and overcome social anxiety is meditation.
Many people are reluctant to give meditation a chance, thinking of it as something mystical or associating it only with Eastern religion and philosophy. This is not the meditation we are referring to. Meditation is simply the practice of concentration, of consciously choosing how you want to direct your attention and deciding what to focus on.
Being confident changes everything.
When you’re confident, you give off a strong social signal that changes the way people interact with you. Suddenly, you are the alpha (yes, women can be alpha too!).
Suddenly, you are the person to impress, the person to know. You become more in-demand, your bosses take notice of you, the opposite sex wants to be around you.
When you talk, people listen.
Imagine...
Imagine being able to command a room.
Imagine walking in and you’re the person everyone wants to talk to.
Imagine telling stories with people gathered around you, hanging off your every word.
Imagine being the natural leader in any group, imagine people throwing opportunities at you.
In short, when you believe in yourself, so does everyone else!
And more importantly, when you’re confident in yourself, you gain the supreme contentment and esteem that comes with knowing who you are and liking that person.
The problem? Many of us will never reach that point. Many of us just don’t like who we are. We feel unworthy. Or perhaps you like yourself but you’re just too shy and anxious to speak up.
Maybe you get butterflies when you approach members of the opposite sex. Maybe you stammer when you’re in interviews.
And it’s preventing you from being where you want to be.
Well, it’s time to put an end to all that!
