The usual method of drawing is first to do a blocking or an outline and it is no different here. You first load the reference image provided in the Resources section and then load this into your canvas and set the grayscale mode of drawing.

The secrets to photo realistic drawings is a good observation of the object or photograph that you are trying to draw. This is coupled to your good understanding of the tools that you are going to use for this drawing. Fortunately, the task of drawing photo realistically is made easy because you are using one single brush ie. the shade brush tool which has no opacity settings, just the size and selection of colors.
Don't feel disappointed if you are not able to get the expected results. Try to tone down your expectations and focus on the areas that you could do better. Watch carefully, how I attempt to create the effects to get the 'photo realism' effect. It would be helpful if you go over segments of the video that you are trying to do and keep repeating the process.
