Explore the Scratch 3 interface, including stage, sprites, costumes, blocks, and the x y grid, and learn how to manage projects with file, edit, tutorials, and sounds.
Create a Scratch 3 get movement project using motion blocks to move the cat with arrow keys, switch costumes, point in direction, rotate left-right, and bounce off edges.
Create your first cartoon in Scratch 3 by setting a backdrop, when flag is clicked, having the character say hello, moving via go to x y, and using repeat blocks.
Students build their first Scratch game with a cat and a bat, control the cat with arrow keys, and score using a timer and a points variable.
Please try to practice with the following project until you feel that finding coordinates is understandable. Coordinates are very challenging!
finish the clicker game by adding a finishing screen, a rotten apple that reduces points, and a hedgehog that shows the score when the backdrop switches to light.
Create a simple Scratch 3 quiz game using the ask and wait block to capture user input in the answer variable, compare results, award points, and display the score.
Design a Scratch 3 maze game by creating a backdrop, drawing a mace sprite, placing coins, and building an open door exit to challenge players.
Build a maze game in Scratch 3 by scripting movement, collisions, and coin collection; use a coins variable to open the door after collecting three coins and escape.
Create a dark Scratch 3 maze with a sprite maze, enabling four-direction movement and edge bounce. Teleport on walls, place a crystal, and set initial position for the next lecture.
Continue building the darkness project by setting a black backdrop and walls, randomizing crystal positions, tracking score, and using broadcasts to reset the cat.
Build an invisible maze game in scratch 3 with a moving black vision area made of offset rectangles; collect ten crystals to win, switch backdrops, and restart with start flag.
Create a donut hunt game in Scratch, setting up a backdrop, left-right controls, donut sprites that respawn at random positions, and a score with high-score tracking.
Duplicate donuts to create drops and replace some with stones that reduce HP when touched. Set HP to 3, track lives, and trigger a game over when HP reaches zero.
Set up menus and transitions for donut game by showing and hiding sprites for backdrops, add a play again button with broadcasts, and manage HP and score resets with coordinates.
Create a high score variable and reveal it on the light backdrop. Update high score when current score beats it at game start (flag or button) for donut game.
Explore building a tower defense game in Scratch 3 by loading an external desert backdrop, creating weapon and wall sprites, and implementing crosshairs that follow the mouse.
Create bullet clones to enable shooting in a tower defense game, spawning at the turret, gliding to the crosshair coordinates, playing a low-volume sound, and deleting clones after impact.
Create enemy tanks as sprites with clones that spawn at the top, travel toward the wall, and trigger shooting and scoring to drive a Scratch 3 tower defense game.
Build a running and jumping runner game in Scratch 3 by creating a jump block, wrapping run block in a repeat until loop, and triggering jumps with space via glide.
Create a runner game in Scratch by adding moving background obstacles like trees and a hedgehog, using clones, timers, and a shelter that appears after 30 seconds.
Explore a Scratch quest game: collect two coins to enter the cave, using signs, backdrops, and scripts to move, count trees, reveal a hidden coin, and end the quest.
Download and import all materials for project and setup project menu
Create a crosshairs that follows the mouse, hides at start, and becomes visible; turns red when over a chicken, with 30 chickens to spawn and 25 hits to win.
Implement ammo management for the chicken hunt game by setting max ammo, updating bullet costumes, and handling shooting, reloading, and related sounds with key or space triggers.
Scratch is a block-based visual programming language and website l tool for coding. Users of the site can create projects on the web using a block-like interface. The service is developed by the MIT Media Lab, has been translated into 70+ languages, and is used in most parts of the world. Scratch is taught and used in after-school centers, schools, and colleges, as well as other public knowledge institutions. As of March 2021, community statistics on the language's official website show more than 73 million projects shared by over 68 million users, and almost 38 million monthly website visits.
This course is aimed to teach Scratch programming to students through practical work. During this course you will be build 10+ sample projects(maze games, clicker game, runner game, chase game and many more) in Scratch, learn basic principles of game development in Scratch, do creative level design, study all block categories and use all the available tools of Scratch 3. You are strongly recommended to practice as much as possible, to do self research, and try to modify all the sample projects we build throughout the course. Alongside with 30 lectures, you will have practice assignments for every project, and 2 major tests, which will contain a lot of interesting and tricky questions, which are not as easy as the seem to be. After you complete the course, you will be given a special link where you will be able to download our course projects and a couple of cool extra projects.
