Schemas are like blueprints to how we view and understand the world. Maladaptive Schemas are formed in early childhood based on unmet needs from our early caregivers. Schemas can become maladaptive or faulty if our caregivers didn't give us one or more of the emotional needs essential to our growth and development. For example, love, connection, attention, safety, play, autonomy, boundaries, structure, limits, non abusive discipline to name a few of these core essential needs that require a balanced amount in childhood from our Caregivers. Schemas can affect our Emotional Intelligence as well because at the root of any of the unmet CORE NEEDS you will find deep intense emotional pain. Due to this intense emotional pain, our Schemas cause us to flip into various Modes of reacting and relating to the world around us. These Schemas and Modes can stay with us well into adulthood. Some people flip into complaining, others avoid, isolate and detach themselves, some lash out in anger and aggression. In Schema Therapy we work with Clients to understand their individual Schema and Modes as well as create more corrective experiences from what happened to them in childhood. We also show people how to do this for themselves.

Schema Therapy is an interesting, phenomenal therapy from which many are finding relief from their suffering and healing by it's use. The training for this Therapy can often run in the thousands. Consider this your much more cost effective, affordable solution. This course is designed for anyone who has tried traditional therapies and still hasn't found relief, for practitioners looking to increase their Therapy tool box and/or for students of psychology interested in learning more.
