It explains the value and benefits of learning SAP IS-U, both for your personal development and professional growth. In addition, the video provides a clear overview of how the training is structured, what topics will be covered, to help you build a solid understanding of the system step by step.
This session provides a comprehensive introduction to the SAP system, starting with the concept of ERP and how SAP ERP integrates various business functions into a single platform. It highlights the most common SAP modules and their purposes, giving you a clear understanding of how they support different business processes. You’ll also learn about the role of an SAP implementation consultant—what is expected from you in this position, and how you will collaborate with other consultants within the project team. The session then explores SAP’s industry-specific solutions, with a particular focus on SAP IS-U, which is the main subject of this training. In addition, you’ll gain an understanding of the SAP landscape and change request process, learning how they are used to manage configurations and ensure system stability. Finally, the session includes a hands-on demonstration of the SAP GUI, where you’ll discover how to navigate the system, use common transaction codes (t-codes), and work with frequently used screens.
In This Section I explain the Master data in general compared to the transactional data. I also focus on the SAP IS-U master data, and explain the relation with the core modules master data.
The SAP IS-U master data is divided into 3 categories (scheduling master data, technical master data, and business master data).
My main drive of this training is that I try to create related master data based on the logical order, moving to the next needed master data, rather than category by category.
In this lesson, I introduce the first technical master data element—the connection object. I explain its concept and how it relates to the core master data in the Plant Maintenance module. Using a real-life example, I demonstrate its practical application and then resolve each issue encountered during the creation process, step by step explaining each issue and its resolution, until the setup is successfully completed.
I introduce the second technical master data element—the premise. I explain its concept and how it related to the previous master data - the connection object. Using a real-life example, I demonstrate its practical application and then resolve each issue encountered during the creation process, step by step explaining each issue and its resolution, until the setup is successfully completed.
This lesson provides a detailed explanation of the scheduling master data elements, including the parameter record, portion, and meter reading unit. It covers their practical applications through real-life examples, explores their configurations, and highlights the various options and effects associated with them.
This lesson focuses on utility installation master data as central component—explaining its concept, structure, and role within SAP IS-U, as well as how it integrates with other master data and supports the billing processes.
This lesson serves as a prerequisite for the Device or Meter lesson. Here, I create the essential configurations and master data required to set up a device of type meter. It also overlaps with the Materials Management (MM) core module, covering the components necessary for IS-U device-related processes. Additionally, this lesson introduces key concepts from the Device Management module, particularly the device category, which forms the foundation for understanding device setup and behavior.
This lesson focuses on the concept of devices, emphasizing the most common type: the meter. It provides an in-depth explanation of various configurations and their impact on device functionality. Step-by-step, it addresses potential issues encountered during the process, offering solutions to resolve them effectively until the meter is successfully created.
This lesson delves into the concept of special kind devices - Indirect / semi direct meters, with a particular focus on the second type of devices: transformers. It offers a comprehensive explanation of the diverse applications of special meters and transformers, their relationships, and the impact they have on billing values.
This lesson outlines the step-by-step process of installing a meter at a customer's premises, covering the necessary configurations and details required for successful installation. Each step will be explained in detail, highlighting the significance of the provided information and configurations throughout the proc
The lesson also covers the process of installing a meter at a customer's premise, breaking it down into two steps. It highlights the key differences between this two-step approach and the previous one-step method. Additionally, it explains the business needs and advantages of adhering to the two-step criteria, emphasizing why this approach may be necessary certain cases.
This lesson provides a detailed explanation of two essential processes: replacing a meter with a new one and removing a meter entirely from a customer's premise. It outlines the business drivers behind each process and describes the necessary configurations and steps required to execute them effectively.
In this lesson I cover the processes of installation, replacement, and removal reversal of devices (meters/transformers) within SAP IS‑U. I start by explaining the business rationales behind each scenario — why a device might need to be installed, swapped out or removed, and why reversal happens (for example, incorrect installation, mistaken removal or invalid replacement). Then I walk through the configurations and steps needed. Finally, I show how to reverse the process — for instance, how to cancel a removal or undo a replacement — and discuss the issues you may encounter (such as outstanding billing documents), and how to fix them until the reversal is successfully completed.
This lesson covers special types of meters and transformers. I explain the business reasons for using these devices, highlighting the differences between them and standard meters. Additionally, I go through the steps and configurations required for their installation and their impact on billing.
This lesson covers special types of meters and transformers. I explain the business reasons for using these devices, highlighting the differences between them and standard meters. Additionally, I go through the steps and configurations required for their installation and their impact on billing.
This lesson focuses on a specific scenario involving the relationship between different meters. It delves into the business need driving the creation of such relationships, outlines the various types of relationships that can exist, and places particular emphasis on the most common type: serial switching. The lesson provides a detailed, step-by-step explanation of the configurations and actions required to establish this type of relationship effectively.
In this lesson, I explore the concept of the business partner in the SAP IS‑U system, explaining how a business partner serves as the foundational master data entity representing a customer, supplier or organization with whom the utility company interacts. I then walk through creating a business partner record step-by-step, including assigning appropriate roles, entering addresses. Finally, I address common issues—such as missing roles, incorrect validity dates or number-range conflicts—and show how to systematically correct them until the business partner creation is successful.
In this lesson I explore the concept of the contract account in the SAP IS-U environment: what it is, how it serves as the financial anchor for a business partner’s billing and receivables relationship, and how it aligns with other master-data objects. I then walk you through creating a contract account step by step—selecting the correct category, linking it to a business partner. Along the way I show how to troubleshoot and fix common issues—such as category mis-assignment, invalid number-ranges, missing partner linkages or inconsistencies —until the contract account is successfully created and ready for use.
This lesson provides a comprehensive overview of the move-in process within the SAP IS-U system, detailing its triggers, functionality, and importance. It explains the business rationale behind a move-in, which occurs when a customer begins service at a specific premise. The lesson includes a step-by-step guide to creating a move-in document, covering tasks such as selecting the business partner, identifying the premise/installation, entering the move-in date, and linking contracts and services. Fixing all issues until completing the move-in processes
In this lesson I cover the process of meter reading within the SAP IS‑U system—what it is,. I begin by explaining the concept of meter reading (both periodic and aperiodic), how it is structured via meter-reading orders, how the results are entered or uploaded, and how they are validated for plausibility. Then I take you through creating a meter-reading order step-by-step, entering and uploading the reading results, handling the associated configurations (such as meter reading units, reading reasons, scheduling), and finally releasing the result for billing. Along the way I highlight missing configurations and how to complete them
This lesson is a continuation of previous lesson. After completing all configurations and fixing all issues encountered. I then start explaining how to proceed with the process.
Course Description
This course is designed to make you a practical and confident SAP IS-U Device Management Consultant. It focuses on the real business and practical side of the module rather than just theory or configuration steps.
