A team environment must be protected. You can’t throw a group of people together and expect them to be successful. The circumstances that they experience will directly affect how productive they will be.
The Issues that happen around a team will affect the people in that team.
This is particularly true in large organisations where there are competing interests and frequent disagreements, a team can easily be pulled in different directions. If they don’t have clear support within a protected environment that insulates them from these issues, then most likely, they will fail.
Throughout this course we will celebrate your progress at 25%, 50%, 75% and 100%. I really want you to succeed but you need to take action and keep going so look forward to these milestones of progress. I will see you there and cheer you on as you keep going from one milestone to the next >>
In this wipeboard lesson you will learn the benefits of creating a safe team environment: communication, collaboration, creativity, continuous learning and higher performance. As a project manager, leader, coach or line manager in the team environment you will need to create insulation for the team as well as be a heat shield and embrace their failures. The large organisation has structure and siloes that creates a "war zone" which threatens team's psychological safety and will reduce the benefits of working in a cross functional team environment. Learn how to create a virtuous cycle of success that gives you space and capacity to do even more to build team safety.

If you’ve been in large organisations then you understand how difficult it can be to create a culture that embraces failure. Usually there is an expectation of constant good news and if something ever does go wrong then you never want to be the person to explain what happened or why.
People work hard to avoid blame and often actively look for fault and blame in other people and teams when things do go wrong, just so they can avoid any blame sticking to them.
Throughout this course we will celebrate your progress at 25%, 50%, 75% and 100%. I really want you to succeed but you need to take action and keep going so look forward to these milestones of progress. I will see you there and cheer you on as you keep going from one milestone to the next >>
Conflict is normal in any organisation. Teams and individuals compete for scarce resources, there are disagreements about decisions and designs, and there are never enough promotions to go around.
You shouldn’t try to negate or reduce conflict, you should create a culture in which people learn how to deal with it, and in which you, as a manager are willing and able to step in and absorb the heat and consequences of that conflict.
If you constantly try and shift blame or deflect citicism to your team and their work, then you will weaken their trust and distract them with having to deal with these issues.
As a manager you must step up and take responsibility for issues and conflict. You don’t have to be right or avoid being wrong, you must just have the emotional maturity to deal with conflict head on and neutralize its impact on your team.
In this lesson you will learn about how to be an insulation layer around a team. Before we get to the practical steps you can take to achieve this, its important to understand how a team environment works.
When a group of people come together to achieve a common objective, they naturally form a team and create an environment within which they can get their work done.
It can be a physical environment of an actual workspace, or it can be a virtual environment of people interacting digitally, which of course has become a lot more popular since the lockdowns of 2020 when people had to work remotely and we realized that a lot more work could be done virtually then we previously estimated.
Throughout this course we will celebrate your progress at 25%, 50%, 75% and 100%. I really want you to succeed but you need to take action and keep going so look forward to these milestones of progress. I will see you there and cheer you on as you keep going from one milestone to the next >>
