Routing Configuration & Router Administration for Cisco CCNA
What you'll learn
- Once you finish my course, you will have a strong grasp on the concepts of which routing method to use in different networking environments. You will be able to configure any of the routing methods discussed and tweak each protocols attributes to make routing more efficient. You will learn how combine the two methods of routing to create backup routes if needed. You will also gain the knowledge on how to do administrative task on the router.
- The understanding of routing is an essential element for any Networking and/or IT Professional. This course will prepare the student for any networking certification such as N+, CCNA, MCSE to include any Computer Science Degree.
- Routing is an essential part of any network in order to communicate and transmit information. Mastering this knowledge will make the student, the Networking and/or IT Professional a much more valuable asset in any Network or IT environment.
Requirements
- A good understanding of networks.
- The Cisco Packet Tracer or similar simulator
- A desire to absorb the information to be able to apply it in a test environment or in a real world scenario
Description
This course is over 10 hours in length and will cover
everything from connecting to a router, configuring administrative tasks on the
router, learning the routers internal components such as RAM, ROM, NVRAM and
FLASH; learning how to manipulate the Registers on the router, backing up
configurations, using the CDP protocol, and all aspects of Static, Default and
Dynamic routing.
Please Note: The Cisco Packet Tracer is a Cisco proprietary software and can only be given out by Cisco. So, if you hear me say in any of the lectures, that I would be providing the CPT, please disregard since I cannot do so.
DISCLAIMER: Please note that the simulators/emulators used in this course are not part of the course. It is the students responsibility to have these to practice with. The Cisco Packet Tracer and/or VIRAL (Virtual Internet Routing Lab) are Cisco proprietary software and can only be obtained through Cisco. It is up to each student to obtain the simulator/emulator of their choice to study along with this course.
If you are unable to get a hold of the CPT, remember that you have other options, like: GNS3, Boson or even live equipment.
It is recommended that you use any of the simulators mentioned above to follow along with the course.
Students will get a thorough understanding of how the routing process actually works and they will also learn how to configure all inter-networking components using the Cisco Packet Tracer (link attached for download), look for it under external .
Students will also be configuring RIPv2, EIGRP and OSPF and understand how to manipulate each routing protocols attributes to meet the requirements of the network.
This is a lecture based course using the Touch-IT Technology Smart board, which will make learning very interactive and engaging.
Hands on labs will be used to drill down the concepts learned in each lecture using the Cisco’s Packet Tracer.
My method will make you feel like you are sitting in a classroom environment and give you the most needed hands on experience!
Handouts will be available to facilitate learning and practice.
This course is designed to help the student become comfortable with the routing concepts and router administration…but it will also help in preparing them for any networking certification or Computer Science Degree; not to mention the fact, that for those already in the field, it will further
improve routing decisions in their particular networks.
Who this course is for:
- This course is intended for anyone that is preparing for a network certification or Computer Science Degree. However, it does go beyond that, it is also intended for those Networking and/or IT Professionals that are already in the field and need a better understanding of routing.

This can be the year to achieve your goals if you are serious about you certs
If you are determined, ambitious and hungry for a new beginning...then this should be your year
...and how better to start or end the year than to get an IT Certification
Whether you are interested in the CCNA or the CCNP or you just want to understand the key topics for these, taking one or ALL my courses, will get you a lot closer to that goal.
But, don't take my word for it...please look at the FREE previews (they are available in all my courses) and see for yourself.
However, keep in mind that I'm also an author and you can find my books on AMAZON.
NOW...what you wanted to know about me but were afraid to ask:
If you are tired of the same old methods of learning and want someone that is pretty much unconventional, but at the same time will provide you with an enjoyable learning experience in layman's terms...then please preview my courses and you will discover that I am your guy.
I am a Network Engineer with many years in the field and in the teaching industry.
So, if anyone can get you certified it's me.
My teaching experience stems from teaching at institutions like Palm Beach Community College, New Horizons, Florida Career College (now Anthem College) and The Academy of South Florida not to mention that I also do private consulting.
Here I bring the classroom to you.
I am in several eLearning Platforms worldwide, to include my own...but you can look it up since I'm not allowed to put it here.
Courtesy of the internet, I have been teaching students from all over the world and all walks of life.... thank goodness for technology ;-)
Having been on all sides of the spectrum; as a student, a teacher/trainer, and in the field, I believe this uniquely qualifies me to understand you.
I know firsthand what you have been exposed to as opposed to what you really want to accomplish. These two are sometimes extremely conflicting and frustrating. That is why I teach in the manner I do and can relate to your rejection of the Status Quo.
I have taught corporate employees at MetroPCS (now T-Mobile) and have also taught IT professionals of companies like The Florida Marlins, Ulysse Nardin, Alberta Water Department (Canada), The Assurant Group, Hospital personnel & Attorney's firms, among others. to guide them in acquiring their IT certifications or general knowledge in IT and Networking.
However, my expertise also extends to being able to teach applications as well. YES...I am also an application instructor and qualified to teach Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access. This, of course, includes the MOS (Microsoft Office Specialist) certification.
But Cisco is my passion ;-)
As you can see, I am a multifaceted person and consider myself to be an eternal student as well.
Remember that I too must keep up with technology since these changes seem to be daily, if not hourly.
I teach in an unconventional way that allows students to understand the subject matter and can, therefore, not only prepare them for a Cisco certification exam but help them apply my methods in the real world.
I strive to give the student a greater opportunity to be able to compete in the current job markets.
Do I go above and beyond what is needed for a certification?...YES, I do...because it's not only about getting a certification, but it's also about making sure that you, the student, are prepared for a job interview and/or maintaining your current job by enhancing your skills.
This is where I step in and make sure that you are prepared for whatever comes your way and make you become an asset to your employer.
Everyone has different requirements and I make sure, or at least I try, to provide information for most scenarios.
My classes and/or courses are very simple and that's how I like to teach. I truly believe in "KISS"...NO, I don't want to kiss you...this means "keep it simple stupid" -
If things are kept simple, easily explained in a way that the student can grasp quickly and retain the information...then I have achieved my goal.
For those that do not know me yet, you may not be used to my style of teaching, but you will soon get accustomed to it :)
I'm very laid back, I try to make learning fun and I teach in layman's terms...no physics jargon or mumbo jumbo in my teachings.
My courses are very interactive and extremely dynamic...you will not find my lectures monotone or boring, because falling asleep, for lack of excitement, is just NOT an option and NOT who I am.
Need convincing?
Then just look for yourself at my video previews, which I always provide on ALL my courses. Therefore, you can then determine if I'm the right guy to help you get your industry-specific certifications.
I certainly hope that after a careful review of my credentials & testimonials (you can Google me you know) ...and see if I'm the Cisco Instructor you're looking for!
