Escape from Side Control & Half Guard Basics

-Students will learn the key concepts for escaping side control, such as framing, hip movement, creating space, and re-establishing guard.

- Students will learn how to bridge effectively to create space and use the shrimping motion to move their hips out from underneath their opponent.

-Using the concept of creating a frame with the arms and body to push away and create the space needed to escape.

- Transitioning to a knee shield position to block the opponent’s pressure while working to re-guard or scramble to a better position. The course will begin with an in-depth analysis of what side control is, its variations, and why it is such a dominant position for the top player.
