  • Introduction0:57
  • Nodes TvsD17:22
  • What Is Rig11:18
  • Ws vs Ls6:35
  • Orient vs Rotate4:08

Distinguish orientation from rotation and location from translation; see how a fixed position becomes a changed direction or position, and how animators use these concepts to animate characters.

  • Ctrls and Ntrls23:56

Create a Maya rig for a toy character using controllers, empty groups, and a neutral setup; deform and align controls for motion, with local and world space, and hierarchical parenting.

  • Hierarchies13:45
  • Intro to Joints1:24
  • Joints25:53

Learn to create and place joints as controllers, paint skin weights with a skin cluster, adjust radius for the visual aid, and build a joint hierarchy with constraints for rigging.

  • Constraints11:01

Learn how constraints create indirect hierarchies that let a controller drive joints and geometry, enabling clean translations and rotations without scaling, using parent constraints and hierarchy relationships.

  • Contraint Types32:10
  • Connection Differences15:18

Explore direct connections and the differences between parenting and constraints in Maya 2020, showing how translation, rotation, and scale are copied or restricted between objects.

Requirements

Description

NOTE THAT THIS IS AN INTERMEDIATE COURSE

Learning 3D rigging can be very time-consuming and confusing when doing it by yourself. I want to make the learning process easy for you, going through all the tools and concepts of rigging in very detailed videos.

In this course, we will create rigs from A to Z. From planning the rig to developing the necessary interface a model needs to be animated.

We will work on a character rig from scratch, to make sure that after finishing this course, you'll have the knowledge required to solve any character rig that is presented to you.

You'll learn tips and shortcuts that will accelerate your workflow and make you understand the fundamentals of 3D rigging.

I will be available for you through the whole course, feel free to send me a message if you encounter any issue. I will help you solve it and understand why it presented itself.

So please, take this course now.

Who this course is for:

  • Students that have already some 3D knowledge and want to expand their knowledge.
  • 3D Artists that want to get into Rigging.
  • Aspiring artists looking to learn and train their skills in video game asset creation.
