Many Procurement students, but also professionals struggle with this wording.
What is the meaning behind each of the following procurement terms: RFI, RFQ, RFT and RFP?
In this lesson we will talk about the products and suppliers which are suitable for the RFQ.
Reason why I will talk about that – not all products are suitable for RFQ, and not all the suppliers either. You as Procurement specialist must understand beforehand if the products and suppliers are even suitable for RFQ
Price is very important for every Procurement specialist and often plays the deciding role in awarding the contract. Right?
But what is price perception for people and suppliers?
Lets take the out of the box approach to prices!
Before we jump into the RFQ process – last preparation is connected to mindset for running a smooth and successful RFQ
Here I decided to share the tamplates and samples of the RFQ's:
- these are the real RFQ's
- these RFQ's are for both governmental organizations, commercial organizations, non-profit organizations
- these RFQ's templates are collected from the different parts of the world
- these RFQ's are for big projects and for small purchases
Please read them carefully and try to understand their structure, description of products and services, winning criteria, time horizons etc.
PLEASE INVEST ENOUGH TIME in studying those documents! Hope you will learn a lot from those!
Specification is critically important to align the understanding of the final result. You as a customer and suppleirs MUST understand the requirements and expectations. To the very last detail.
Otherwise the risk is high that you will run after the lowest price and will become dissapointed by the final result...
After the request for Quotation was sent to potential suppliers – the most fun part starts...
You should finalize your analysis, understand who will take the business and who will not...
Of course the end of RFQ process is connected to awarding the contract!
There are 5 types of contracts that I want to touch upon in this lesson.
Here we will take some last tips and tricks for running a successful RFQ. Some of them are just small pieces of advice, others are practicalities, but everything is taken from my own experience after running quotations and tendering processes for the last 15 years or so.
