Guides users through the course project as a BIM case study, detailing access to the course folder, 3D architectural and MEP models, and Revit version considerations.
Explore the Revit home page, distinguish models from families, and start a new project using imperial or metric templates while loading families from Autodesk libraries.
Master the Revit coordinate system by configuring internal origin, project basepoint, and survey point to align MEP and architectural models, enabling accurate linking and true north orientation.
link the architectural model to the mep project, align coordinates, and manage visibility and changes to ensure levels, grids, rooms, and functions stay coordinated.
Learn to set up grids and levels in Revit MEP, using three creation methods, copy monitor for linked files, and manage 3D and 2D extents with level symbols.
Create and rename MEP views for ground floor and roof, define view ranges, and link design drawings to coordinate HVAC, drainage, water supply, firefighting, and electrical systems.
Divide the project into scopes with scope boxes, enabling separate sheets for management and ancillary buildings, then use section boxes in 3D to crop views and control annotations.
Place and modify duct insulation in revit, using designer schedules via rfi, applying fiberglass 50 mm to supply and fresh ducts, and add acoustic lining on the first duct segment.
Load and place hvac pipe accessories in Revit MEP, including isolating valves, strainers, flexible connections, and check valves, and resolve clashes using 3d views and typical pump details.
Demonstrate how to model hvac pipe insulation in Revit, applying aluminium cladding with 50 mm fiberglass insulation on exposed pipes, 25 mm fiberglass indoors, and 50 mm pre-insulated hdpe underground.
Load and place plumbing fixtures and equipment in a Revit MEP project, including water closets, wash basins, drains, pumps, and electric water heater, aligning them to levels and plinths.
Model the toilet drainage in Revit MEP by placing a main under-slab pipe with 1% slope, adding branches, fittings, and manholes, and linking floor drains and wash basins.
Install and configure condensate and waste drainage piping in revit mep, including pipe sizing, upvc drainage, slope, fittings, insulation, supports, and stormwater connections.
Place and modify water supply pipes (PPR) and pipe accessories in Revit MEP, defining materials, elevations, and fittings, including water meters, valves, and domestic cold and hot water systems.
Explore the fire fighting systems in the project, including sprinkler, standpipe, and FM 200 systems, with pumps, tanks, valves, anti vortex plates, and related modeling activities.
Place pendant and upright sprinklers in the management and ancillary buildings, configure the Siamese connection with a 100 mm check valve, and connect into network in 3D using CI shortcuts.
Explore a concise site visit of the Revit MEP model, highlighting sprinkler, standpipe, siamese connections, and drainage. This includes HDPE vs uPVC drainage, cable trays, supports, and on-site verification.
Explore the project electrical systems, covering lighting fixtures, power, receptacles, switches and isolators, distribution boards, data outlets and thermostat, and VAV box connections via conduits with cable trays.
Place data fixtures and data devices in a Revit MEP model, load data elements, position servers and outlets, and configure thermostats tied to VAV boxes for zone control.
Practice creating and routing a 25–27 mm PVC conduit between the thermostat and the VAV box in Revit, embedding in wall, and applying PVC fittings.
Identify clashes between MEP elements and architectural walls with interference check, then manually create openings and elevations to reflect required penetrations.
Explore Dynamo, a visual programming platform, to script wall openings at duct and pipe clashes, using geometric intersections to place rectangular or round openings and adjust size and elevation.
Choose the right title block and create a parametric title block to host the key plan, notes, and project data, then set up sheets with a scope box and scales.
Create and place sections, clouds, callouts, and isometric views on sheets. Configure view templates and visibility graphics to control scale, detail level, and annotations.
Learn to create and manage legends in Revit to generate abbreviation schedules, color codes for MEP systems, and schedules for duct insulation, supports, and installations, with reusable legends across sheets.
Place and create access panels in revit for hvac drawings, with 450x450 and 300x300 sizes under equipment like fcu, valve packages, and motorized smoke fire dampers per nfpa.
Learn to extract shop drawings to DWG for AutoCAD, export to PDF, control category layers and layer colors via export setup, embed references, and print in A2 with halftone settings.
Create a splash screen in revit mep displaying the project title and company, export a 100% zoom image, and set it as the starting view.
Create pipe and pipe fittings schedules in Revit MEP, assign material, diameter, and length parameters, and use Dynamo to compute quantities in meters for Excel-ready reports.
Create schedules for pipe accessories, plumbing fixtures, and sprinklers counted in pieces, and add calculated parameters for quantity, value, and unit with 'NO', applying same steps to fixtures and sprinklers.
Learn to create cable tray and cable tray fittings schedules in Revit MEP, using built-in and shared parameters, formulas, and Dynamo to calculate lengths in meters.
Create and assign shared and project parameters in a Revit MEP project, use filters and visibility graphics to separate systems, and apply a view template across views.
*First course on Udemy about CONTRACTOR SERVICES
*All Revit versions from Revit 2020 to Revit 2025 are almost the same with some additional minor features for the later versions, but you can apply the BIM concept and follow up the course lectures using any version, from Revit 2020 up to Revit 2025.
In this course students will be familiar with the BIM services needed for the contractor to execute the mechanical, electrical and plumbing works on site with less time and less cost by providing the construction site with the coordinated shop drawings and exact material take off reports. So first we will learn the Revit basics of how to start a new project, setting up templates, linking the architectural model and the designed drawings into our live model and creating views and levels, then we will learn how to read and convert the designer MEP drawings into 3D models and all the tips, tricks and shortcuts needed to perform the work faster, then we will go through the coordination process by finding the clashes and solving them. Then we will use dynamo to create the builders works, then we will extract the shop drawings and the builder works from the coordinated model and finally we will learn how to create schedules for the MEP categories. This course is aimed at complete beginners who have never used Revit before and want to increase their career options by learning Revit MEP. The ideal students for this course are the mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, BIM engineers, BIM drafters.
