This Revit Crash Course will take you from ZERO to HERO in just over 8 hours!


Module 1: Introduction and Setting Up the Project (1 Hour)

1.2 Revit Interface and Navigation (10 minutes)

• Start a new architectural project.

• Choose the correct template.

• Exploring the interface: project browser, properties palette, ribbons, and view controls.

1.3 Setting Up a New Project (10 minutes)

• Set up 3 levels (ground level, 1st level and roof level).

• Units, grid lines, dimensions.

Hands-On Activity (30 minutes):

• Project Task: Set project units, create levels for the ground floor and roof, and add grid lines for reference.

• Outcome: Students will have a basic project set up with levels and grids, ready for further modeling.

Module 2: Basic Architectural Elements (1 Hour)

2.1 Creating Floors (10 minutes)

• Drawing a floor slab and understand the existing family types and how to make new families by duplicating.

2.2 Creating Walls (10 minutes)

• Drawing basic walls (exterior and interior) and understand the existing family types and how to make new families by duplicating.

2.3 Adding Doors (15 minutes)

• Placing doors.

• Adjusting types and properties.

• Importing new door families:

2.5 Creating Roofs (15 minutes)

• Adding a basic roof: 2 options: either a floor slab or a slanted roof.

Hands-On Activity (40 minutes):

• Project Task: Model floors, exterior and interior walls, add doors and windows, model a roof.

• Outcome: Students will have the shell of a small building with walls, a floor, a roof, and openings.

Module 3: Interior Layout and Detailing (1 Hour)

3.1 Adding Stairs (10 minutes)

• Creating simple straight stair (if applicable to the design).

3.2 Adding Ramps (10 minutes)

• Creating simple ramp.

3.3 Placing Furniture (10 minutes)

• Loading and placing basic furniture or equipment (e.g., tables, chairs).

• Project Task: Add stairs, furniture, rooms & tags, apply a color scheme and set a view template to the project.

• Outcome: Students will have a fully enclosed and detailed interior layout for their building.

4.1 Annotation (10 minutes)

• Adding text notes, fill patterns & tags.

4.2 Schedules (15 minutes)

• Setting up a simple doors schedule

4.3 Creating Views: Plan, Section, and 3D (15 minutes)

• Setting up floor plans, sections, and 3D views.

4.4 Sheets (15 minutes)

• Setting up a title block.

• Placing views on sheets for printing.

4.5 Worksharing with Central Models (15 minutes)

4.6 Exporting
