
Most modern retinoscopes have plane mirror effect with the sleeve down, and concave mirror effect with the sleeve up.
Only Copeland retinoscope design(which is rarely used nowadays) has the reverse ( concave mirror effect with the sleeve down, and plane mirror effect with the sleeve up)
Set up retinoscopy by dimming room lights and maintaining a 66 cm walking distance. Use appropriate lenses for adults and children and apply cycloplegic drops for infants to relax accommodation.
Demonstrate the neutralization technique in static retinoscopy with trial plus lenses, moving the reflex toward the retina until reaching neutral point. Prepare to assess astigmatism and compensate for working distance.
Learn static retinoscopy neutralization using spherical and cylindrical lenses, including axis alignment and final plus 1.5 spheres minus 2 cylinder at 180 degree with working distance compensation.
Assess how walking distance affects retinoscopy reflex, using 66 cm as distance. Subtract 1.5 diopters from spherical power to compensate, noting brighter reflexes but higher error risk at close distances.
Demonstrates the sphere lenses method in retinoscopy, guiding neutralization across meridians using minus and plus lenses, adjusting for motion, axes, and walking distance to derive final refraction.
