This module lays the essential groundwork for ethical AI practice, dedicating 20% of the course to building a robust conceptual understanding. You will begin by Defining AI Ethics and mastering the Core AI Ethical Principles and Key AI Ethical Frameworks that drive Responsible AI Ethics and Governance, including an in-depth look at the Seven C's of AI. We will critically analyze the potential for harm by identifying Sources of AI Bias, exploring the Ethical Challenges during development and deployment, and considering the broad Moral and Social Implications, such as the impact of AI and Job Displacement. Crucially, you will gain practical knowledge on the Principles of Ethical Development and Deployment, understand the Role of an AI Ethics Officer—including their Roles and Responsibilities in Creating Ethical Policies, Frameworks and Practices—and learn how to establish effective Ethical Review Boards and Committees to ensure Ethical AI in a Changing Landscape.
