So much gratitude for you and your willingness to show up and make your health and wellness goals a priority!
Here is your “fun work” for the week-
1.) Start a Food and Mood Journal, you can use the journal you started writing in at session one, or use a separate notebook for that.
Just write down all the food you eat, the times you're eating, and the mood you're in while you're eating. For bonus points, also write down how you feel 2-3 hours after eating.
No judgments about the food you’re eating! Only compassion and love. You’re just tracking the data, like an objective scientist, and starting to develop a mindfulness and awareness about your eating patterns.
2.) Visualize your Ideal Fitness, Strength, and Energy reality for at least 10 minutes a day.
Morning and evening might be the easiest times to make it happen, but do whatever works best for your schedule.
A review from the meeting-
1.) We talked about defining Abstinence or our Ideal Food plan, and took a few minutes to free write about that.
2.) We dove into two hormones that can support or derail our weight loss efforts, Insulin and Cortisol. Insulin is secreted by the pancreas and converts sugar to energy. Cortisol is secreted when we have a lot of stress, to help us manage the situation.
3.) Things that support Insulin Efficiency-
-Eating lots of nature-created Whole Foods like veggies, fruits, whole grains, healthy proteins and fats
-Limiting or eliminating sugar, flour, and processed carbohydrates
-Taking longer pauses between meals, by eliminating snacking or exploring intermittent fasting
-Joyful movement and exercise, especially after carb heavy meals
-Stopping eating before it gets dark, as our bodies become more insulin resistant at night
-Supplements that help include- Bitter Melon, Gymnema, Berberine, Cinnamon, Chromium
4.) Things that support Cortisol Balance
- Good Sleep- Calm, relaxing bedtime routine
-Supportive relationships and connections
-Relaxation practices like prayer, meditation, breath work
-Consistent Nourishing Self Care - taking time for joy, massage, walks in nature, etc
- Joyful movement helps the body process cortisol
-Supplements that can help include Ashwagandha, Rhodiola, Holy Basil, Adaptogenic Mushrooms like Reishi and Cordyceps
5.) We made a plan for getting smart about insulin and cortisol, and then practiced Hypno Health, which supports both cortisol balance and insulin efficiency by helping us make better food choices!
Funwork for this week-
1). Practice the Relaxations in Lectures 2 and 3 a few times during the week.
They will support you immensely in shifting your mindset to be able to let go of excess weight with joy and ease.
2). Continue to work on your food and mood journal and your definition of abstinence, incorporating your insulin/cortisol plan
A guided relaxation to help you connect to joy, peace, and positive feelings throughout the day. Connecting with positive feelings effectively helps you in being able to overcome cravings and urges for food. As you learn to receive dopamine from your own positive emotions, food can take its proper place as nourishment for the body. Using food for entertainment or for changing your emotions becomes less compelling when you can change your emotional states on your own. Listen to this guided relaxation 4-5 times to build your joy muscle.
Affirmations to go with this session-
I deserve to feel good.
I am creating joy in my life.
I am worthy of good feelings, just as I am.
The world is full of wonderful possibilities and my heart is full of positive emotions.
I am capable of connecting with joy and peace throughout the day, no matter what's going on around me.
Close your eyes and relax. Allow yourself to go on an internal journey of healing.
After this guided relaxation session, students will be able to connect with the past version of themselves, the version that understands why they may have turned to food for comfort in the past. This past version can help students to heal and overcome the food addiction triggers that were formed earlier in life.
Another possibility in this relaxation session is to connect with your future self, the self that is no longer compelled by cravings and addictions. Students will be able to experience the possibility of having freedom from addictive behaviors. They will experience what it's like to go through life in a way that's calm, confident, and resilient. Imagining this helps students connect with these feelings more in their real life and throughout the day.
Affirmations-
I am resilient, any obstacles I face are merely stepping stones.
I am fully capable of managing my life with ease and grace. Instead of turning to addictive behaviors, I turn to my own inner reservoir of calm and peace.
I understand why I picked up the habit of food addiction. My past no longer controls me. I can let it go with ease.
I am free to write new stories in my life, free from the burden of past hurts and traumas.
Discover and amplify your Purpose!
Session starts with a few questions/shares about intermittent fasting.
Then we move into a masterclass to get clarity on your life vision and what you want to create in your life.
Considering what you want to experience in different areas of your life and getting clarity on your dreams and goals gives you strong sense of purpose.
A strong sense of purpose offers a counter balance to addictive behaviors like stress eating. When you're clear where you want to go, you will feel compelled to make it happen with daily actions. You will become less tolerant of behaviors that derail you and throw you off track.
Make sure you have a journal for this Lecture, and a comfortable place where you can relax for 30-40 minutes.
Enjoy this session!
