Massage Table is One of the Key Supplies in this Skillset. This is a quick overview of the table and how easily it can be assembled and ready to use
Sanitizing our Workspace is crucial to our line of work. The spread of germs can be prevented by taking the right steps to ensure our practices are in check with cleanliness protocols. Take time to make sanitation a habit.
This may seem Unnecessary to review, but my experience in the field is proof positive, not everyone is washing their hands, nails and forearms well enough to ensure the prevention of germs. Review. It never hurts.
Did someone just compliment your rings? I hope NOT!
Appearing as if we have come to work as a professional is imperative. As in any profession, we have a standard of self-respect and client expectations. Falling short of these standards can result in a less than positive perception of our abilities to reduce their stress in a professional manner, even if we give a highly complementary service.
Sanitizing the Table between Clients, before Draping fresh linens is best practice.
Draping the table is covering all surfaces of our equipment with the appropriate sheets, blankets and essentials to perform each surface. Our clients are disrobed, which means their skin should be protected from the materials of our massage tables and face cradles as well as, covering their bodies to ensure discretion and comfort while receiving their relaxation massage. Details of the draping are first impressions and begin the stress reducing mindset as the client sees they have been accommodated.
Keeping our clients completely covered in all positions ensures their comfort and trust in our service as legitimate and safe.
Body Mechanics are the Positions we hold ourselves as Practitioners, during session. The proper posture and proper use of our body not only allows an even, smooth flow of the technique execution, but also protects our bodies from unnecessary overwork, overuse, misuse and subsequent aches and pains after sessions or at the end of our workday. Simple maneuvers make big impact.
This is a guideline for Music beats per minute. Using the correct rhythm will further enhance the relaxation aspect of your service. Remember we need to slow our minds and heart rates in order to decompress. The techniques in this program, coupled with the correct ambient sound as a backdrop for your session is complimentary should prove to be the positive reset your clientele is seeking.
Additional items not listed in your Supplies Checklist will be optional and worth considering once you get comfortable and directed in the path you are choosing to take this new Certification.
If you are working within a mobile unit, some of the listed items will not be supported due the amount of equipment to pack and unpack each session. But for those interested in opening an office where clients will be visiting, you can certainly host these additional equipment options.
Hot Towel Cabinet - to store wet, hot towels or to heat a rice or heat pack for the back or neck
Lotion Warmer - This will hold a bottle filled with your choice of oil, cream or lotion and heat it so your client doesn't experience a cold product on their body.
Robes, Towels, Washable Slippers, for your client to use in the event they need to use the restroom during session. Offering these supplies allows the client to freely drape themselves without getting redressed in their street clothes and undressed again upon return to the room.
Task Lighting, Lamps, for ease working in a darker space. Keeping a Massage workspace dimmed is conducive to enhanced relaxation
Eye Covers - Using a washcloth or cold eye pack is a nice way to cover eyes and provide a deeper sense of relaxation.
Marketing Tools - Business Cards, Flyers, QR Codes for customers to scan while they are in your presence make it convenient for them to rebook, communicate or contact you outside their scheduled appointment time.
Tip Envelopes - Being discrete while also holding your service in a position of accepting gratuity is a nice touch to allow your clients to leave a thank you for your service. Leaving the envelopes in various areas around your workspace creates an easy option for all parties involved.
