Usui Reiki Certification: Levels I, II, III & Master Teacher

The first symbol is called the Power Symbol or the Cho Ku Rei. Pronounced Sho Koo Ray. This symbol is sometimes nicknamed "the light switch" as it connects us to the energy, like a light switch being turned on. It is thought to turn up the energy and open us as channels of the Reiki energy.

The ChoKuRei symbol can help start the Reiki flowing, and most practitioners use it at the beginning of sessions by drawing it on the palms of their hands. It can help overcome negative resistance patterns. Using it on an area can help reduce pain.

It is also used in space clearing.

The second symbol is called Sei He Ki. It is pronounced, "say hay key". This symbol is known as the mental/emotional symbol, but also as the harmony symbol. It is used to heal mental and emotional habits that no longer work for you and emotional and mental distress. It is also used to bring up and heal the emotional issues underneath physical problems. It helps reinforce and support positive behavior changes.

This is a Japanese Reiki Technique for purification. In Japan, before one enters a temple or sacred place, usually there is a place near the entrance with running water which is used for ritual cleansing to purify oneself before entering. Kenyoku means “dry bathing” and is a technique for ritual purification using energy rather than water. This is a good technique to use before and after giving Reiki treatments. It can also be used at various times throughout the day or anytime one feels the need to release negative energy.

1. Do a short Gassho meditation.

2. Place your right hand on your left shoulder.

3. Stroke down your chest, across your stomach, and end at the right hip.

4. Do the same on the other side.

5. Repeat step #2.

6. Extend your left arm.

7. Place our right hand on your left shoulder.

8. Stroke down your arm all the way to the hand and fingertips. Then fling your right hand out into the air as though you are throwing away any negative energy.

9. Do the same with the right arm.

10. Repeat the stroke down the left arm again.

11. You can also add a short Gassho at the end.
