Welcome to the How To Build A Redbubble Shop | Print on Demand Masterclass!
This course is designed to take you through the entire process to build your own print-on-demand ecommerce business with Redbubble.
In this section, we will start by taking a look at the Redbubble platform, and how the print-on-demand process works. We will also discuss some Redbubble rules & guidelines, and go over how to create your account.
On Redbubble, anyone can open their own ecommerce shop and upload designs to the marketplace. Customers can browse your designs, make a purchase, and you’ll receive a percentage of each sale. It’s that simple!
With the print-on-demand process, you can spend your time creating awesome designs that your audience will love, instead of worrying about the backend production. Once you create a new design, you can easily add it to dozens of available print-on-demand products in your online shop, and list them for sale on the Redbubble marketplace.
When an order is placed, Redbubble will create the product by adding your custom design, ship the item directly to the customer, and you’ll receive a percentage of each sale.
As a Redbubble seller, you have to follow certain rules in order to avoid unwanted events, such as getting a design rejected, to having your account suspended. But as long as you play by the rules, you’ll be able to safely offer products to customers and grow your print on demand business.
If the terms of the user agreement are not followed, Redbubble has the right to remove your content, and even cancel your account at its discretion. Repeated violations will likely lead to an account suspension, so make sure you upload accordingly.
Redbubble is available to artists all around the world, and almost anyone can join with minimal barriers to entry.
In this lecture, we'll be going over how to sign up to Redbubble as an artist, so you can create your shop and upload designs.
To create your account, you will need sign up using a valid email address, and confirm your email address using a link provided to you by Redbubble.
Now that you’ve created your Redbubble account, you’ll need to add your bank or PayPal details.
In this section, we will be going over how to create your brand graphics, and go through the process to set up and customize your Redbubble shop.
This will include basic elements, such as setting up your artist profile, selecting notification options, and also how to add your store branding.
In this lecture, we’ll be going over how to use Canva to create a custom avatar and an eye-catching cover image for your Redbubble shop. Your avatar and cover image will make up the bulk of your personal branding on Redbubble, so you want to make them as good as possible.
I’ve used many design tools over the years, and Canva is definitely one of the easiest for beginners, and probably my favorite. They provide you with easy to use design tools, templates, images, and everything else you need to create awesome designs.
There are several sites you could use to hire a designer, including Fiverr, Upwork, 99Designs, and more.
Each site has its own benefits, features, and price range.
Sites like 99Designs can connect you with top designers from around the world, and those on a tighter budget can use a service such as Fiverr.
When you contact a designer, simply send them the details, such as your brand colors, slogan, any icons or images you want to use, and a general description of what you’re looking for.
You also want to provide them with the dimensions you need for your avatar and cover image.
On Redbubble, your cover image should be 2400px wide by 600px high, and in JPEG or PNG format.
For my avatar (or logo), I typically request at least 500x500px.
So now that we have some amazing brand graphics, let’s go over the process to set up and customize our Redbubble shop.
Setting up a Redbubble shop is easy to do, and shouldn’t take you more than an hour or so.
We’ll be going over how to upload your avatar & cover images, update your shop settings, and how to write your artist bio that will appear on your profile.
We will also discuss a few tips, and also go over how to add formatting to your artist bio text.
On Redbubble, you can add links to your shop that can send visitors to your website, social media brand pages, or any other site you wish.
Once you add your links, they will appear as icons on your artist profile, and viewers can click them to be taken to the site.
We will also take a brief look at how you can show off your Redbubble products on your own website be adding a portfolio.
In this lecture, we’ll be going over how to create a message for your buyers that will be added to customer receipts.
This is a cool feature on Redbubble that allows you to send a short message to each buyer after they make a purchase.
In this section, we’ll be going over some of my favorite ways to create quality designs that you can add to your Redbubble products. This will will include how to download a free image editor, find royalty free images, and even how to access thousands of design templates that you use customize to create product designs.
Now let's go over a few Redbubble artwork guidelines & tips. When uploading designs to Redbubble, you have to make sure they are the correct format, & have proper dimensions for the best quality.
Learn how to browse and find royalty free images to use for your product designs.
Learn how to download & use the free photo editor GIMP. GIMP is a free photo editor that is just as powerful as other more expensive editing programs. I’ve been using GIMP for years, and it’s always performed perfectly for creating designs.
In this lecture, we’ll be going over how to use Canva to create some eye-catching custom designs to add to your Redbubble products. With thousands of templates, and an easy to use online editor, Canva is definitely one of my favorite places to create designs.
Discover one of the easiest sites to quickly create designs for your products, Placeit. Placeit is very similar to Canva by offering tons of design templates, royalty free images, and an easy to use online editor.
Discover several sites to purchase your product designs. For those that would rather purchase designs, there are many online sites that you could use to access quality designers.
In this section, we’ll be going over how to add your design to Redbubble products, and publish them to the Redbubble marketplace.
I will walk you step by step through the entire process of uploading your artwork, adding your listing information (such as your title, description & tags), and publishing your products to the Redbubble marketplace.
This will include filling out your Redbubble product details with good keywords to increase search rankings, selecting which products to publish, editing your artwork on each enabled product, selecting your default product view for your Redbubble shop, and much more.
In order to be successful in ecommerce, it’s important to always take some time to do a little market research.
You have to research and see what people are actually buying, and take note of the niches that seem to have potential.
There are several ways you could perform niche research, such as by analyzing current trends, checking out best selling products, or by spying on your competition.
In order for your products to get found in search engines, you have to use relevant tags and keywords that are related to your design.
Keywords are typically what people browsing online search for to find whatever it is they are looking for.
The key is to research and find keywords that customers are most likely to type when searching for products on Redbubble.
In this lecture, we'll go over how to upload your design and add your listing details.
We’ll start by uploading your first design to Redbubble, which you should have already created or purchased in the previous section.
After you upload your new work to Redbubble, we’ll then discuss how use your keyword list to write your design title & description, and how to add your tags.
So now that you’ve analyzed your competitors on Redbubble, and created your keyword list, let’s go over how to upload your design and add your listing details.
Redbubble allows you to upload up to 60 works per day, which allows you to create a ton of products for your shop.
When uploading to Redbubble, you’ll notice that there are a few products that are a bit more tricky to add designs to.
These are the advanced products, and require a little more attention than standard products.
For the more difficult products, Redbubble has provided us with some very helpful templates to help us create designs specifically for these.
The product templates can be downloaded and used to create designs that will fit correctly on the product print areas.
In this lecture, we’ll be taking a look at the process of making a sale on Redbubble, and of course, getting paid.
On Redbubble, the profit you receive from each sale is called your Artist Margin.
This is calculated by multiplying the product’s base price by the markup percentage you set when uploading your designs.
So by now, you should’ve already uploaded designs and published products to your Redbubble shop.
In this section, we’ll by going over various tips and strategies to manage your shop and help keep it running smoothly.
As a Redbubble seller, you have to treat your online shop as a real business. This means taking the time to optimize your shop, and continuously make improvements to increase traffic, sales, and conversions.
In this lecture, we’ll be going over how to navigate and manage your Redbubble Portfolio. Redbubble provides you with tons of tools and features that you can access from your Manage Portfolio page. From here, you can easily edit your existing products, delete designs, select various product settings, and much more.
Redbubble collections are collections of your artwork that can be displayed together in your shop.
You can think of Redbubble collections as little galleries that you can use to showcase your favorite designs.
Whether you want to group your artwork based on a particular theme, niche, or other criteria, collections are a great way to organize and highlight your designs.
On Redbubble, you can easily adjust the prices of any of the products that you sell. This can be done for individual items, or by all products in bulk.
When changing prices on Redbubble, it’s important to first understand how the prices are calculated. The profit you receive for each sale is determined by your artist margin you set for each product.
In this lecture, we’ll be going over how to help prevent others from stealing your designs on Redbubble by adding watermarks to your images, and enabling download protection.
Redbubble watermarks and download protection are both great ways to add an extra layer of protection to your designs.
Although it's impossible to prevent all cases of people stealing art and designs, it's still a good idea to protect your work on Redbubble with the options that are currently available.
In this section, we’ll by going over various growth strategies that you can implement to increase your traffic and sales. With the strategies we will cover, you can grow your Redbubble shop, and pass your competition with growth tips that your competitors likely aren’t doing.
Growing your Redbubble shop is a constant process, and you should always be looking for new ways to reach more customers. You not only want to reach people browsing the Redbubble platform, but also implement growth strategies outside of Redbubble as well.
In order for people to find on your products organically in the Redbubble marketplace, you have to optimize your product listings.
Another way to grow your Redbubble shop is with off-site marketing. Off-site marketing is when you choose to advertise your products off-site by sending information about your product to third-party advertisers. These third-parties use algorithms to show your products to potential customers that are browsing related items online.
In order for your business to have true longevity, you’ll have to be a brand around your niche. This will allow you to build an audience that will continue to grow over time. Marketing and self-promotion to build your brand is the best way to increase traffic & sales, while building a supportive and passionate fanbase.
Instead of using the original image of your design, try using professional mockups in your advertising and marketing campaigns. If you like, you can download your Redbubble mockups to use for marketing. Learn how to download the Redbubble mockups of your designs to use for online marketing.
By downloading the Redbubble mockups, you can market your artwork on social media to drive more traffic and sales to to your Redbubble shop.
Redbubble artist templates are custom templates that have been handcrafted for you to use to promote your artwork online. Simply select a template from the Redbubble New Artists Promotional Templates Repository, and use Photoshop or another image editor to add your designs to the templates. This is a great way to showcase your work on social media, your website, and other places online.
One of the best ways to figure out what is currently working in your niche is to spy on your competition. Look for top artists in your niche. What are they doing on their social media pages? Research their external marketing strategies.
If you’re having trouble gaining traction, or you want to reach a new audience, you could also try running paid ad campaigns. Paid ad campaigns are great for reaching new people and growing your audience fast.
