A brief overview and introduction to the course.
Observe how human insight, tech foresight, and experimentation shape future innovation, as demonstrated by Uber's on-demand transportation services, mobile tech enablement, and evolving consumer behaviors.
Explore how innovation serves as an offensive strategy, using emergent technologies and startup models to outpace traditional firms, as shown by the Netflix versus Blockbuster shift.
Apply rapid foresight to imagine plausible futures for growth through a lean, collaborative canvas. Use a 15-section canvas and co-design workshops to model trends, drivers, and future customer needs.
Frame the domain to guide future foresight, defining scope, time horizon, and stakeholders via a domain brief and domain map.
Scan the external environment to detect early signs of change across macro, industry, and transactional spheres. Build a holistic 360-degree view by monitoring social, economic, political, and technological trends.
Stress-test existing growth strategies with wind tunnel testing against future scenarios to identify future growth domains and opportunities through product, process, and business model innovations.
Develop strategy by identifying required capabilities, people, and tools, define a viable business model, visualize value flow with a systems map, and create a present-to-future roadmap aligned with culture changes.
Lead like a futurist by facilitating futures conversations, building long-term thinking culture, enabling collaborative experimentation, and turning plausible scenarios into transformative action.
Apply the rapid foresight canvas to generate insights from weak signals and drivers of change, informing a plausible future view and strategy to win.
The course focuses on teaching leading tools, techniques, and principles of Strategic Foresight and a systematic approach to applying them to identify growth opportunities and anticipate risks in the near plausible future and develop a strategy to win using Rapid Foresight Canvas. Rapid Foresight Canvas builds on strategic foresight to help identify the changes and shifts in the business environment and map out what business competencies would be needed for the plausible future world through a sprint based approach and facilitating a structured conversation with your team. Each learning module contains introductions for the course project. Through the course project, you would be capturing and assessing weak signals, trends and your assumptions about the future of your business environment and customers, co-design a future to identify new growth opportunities in the form of new products or services, develop a new strategy and roadmap or test the resilience of your existing or proposed strategy in the emerging future.
