You’ve definitely heard of amazon, but you might not have heard of KDP. This is Kindle Direct Publishing, which is a platform that enables self-publishing of ebooks into the Amazon ecommerce market place. Of course amazon is the world’s biggest online market place and actually started off selling physical books. As the world digitized more and more, so the ebook, or electronic book became popular and offered readers convenience and flexibility. The Kindle is Amazon’s own ebook format and you can get a kindle app as well as kindle e-readers on which to read kindle ebooks.

If you are brand new to KDP then this lesson takes you through the process of creating an account and doing the initial set up. Your bank account and tax information are the most important aspects to get right and you won't be able to publish your book unless these are fully up to date.
In this demonstration lesson I walk you through my own KDP account and show you the dashboards and performance of my 6 Kindle eBooks that I have published.
So, you want to be a published author, you want to get an ebook onto amazon. That’s fantastic but before we go any further, you need to change your mindset. You need to change your mindset from being an author, to becoming a publisher. i want you to mentally flick this switch in your brain. It will change your outlook from constantly thinking about your writing and improving it to actually getting your writing in front of other people.
In this lesson you will learn what information is required to set up your book initially. In another lesson I’ll actually show you how to do it on Amazon’s KDP platform, plus you will learn how to set up your KDP account if you don’t have one yet
In this demonstration lesson I take you through the key steps to set up your KDP account. This includes personal information, as well as bank account and tax details. You can create your ebook on KDP before finishing this setup but you won't be able to publish until all your account details are verified.
In this demonstration lesson I recap the key activities that you need to get done on day 1. Refer to the handy worksheet for all the information you need.
Throughout this course we will celebrate your progress at 25%, 50%, 75% and 100%. I really want you to succeed but you need to take action and keep going so look forward to these milestones of progress. I will see you there and cheer you on as you keep going from one milestone to the next >>
Today is all about organizing your manuscript. A pre-requisite for doing this course was that you have existing content that won’t require too much work to get into the format for a Kindle ebook. Ideally you already have a draft manuscript and you just haven’t been able to find a publisher, or you’ve been hesitant to self publish. You might even have some blog articles that can be the chapters of your book of you might have a course script or transcript which you can work with.
In this demonstration lesson I show you the template I developed and used for all 6 of my Kindle ebooks and which you can use to easily convert your manuscript and get it ready for uploading. I show you the layout and some tips and techniques for getting your pre-existing content into shape as quickly as possible. I show you how the final product evolves from a blank word document to a KDP formatted layout, a Kindle preview and ultimately a "look inside" preview on Amaazon.com.
In this demonstration lesson I recap the key activities that you need to get done on day 2. Refer to the handy worksheet for all the information you need.
Well done – you’ve made it to day 3 and if you are following the plan in this course to get your book published on day 5, then hopefully you will have got your manuscript into shape and ready to upload today. Today is all about updating your kindle ebook content on the KDP platform today. Most importantly that is uploading your manuscript and checking how it previews. The other big task is to do your book cover, and there is a full demonstration lesson on how to do that. We will be using the KDP cover creator tool but you can also upload your own cover image if you want to. For all 6 of my ebooks I have used the kdp cover creator tool and its worked really well.
In this demonstration lesson I show you step by step how to upload your manuscript that you finalised on Day 2. We also go through the cover creator tool so you know how to make your own cover quick and easy by changing layout, fonts, colours and even including an image of your own.
In this demonstration lesson I recap the key activities that you need to get done on day 3.
Today we are going to price your book and set up some of the commercial aspects of publishing your book. The first setting is to decide if you want to join KDP select programme. With Kdp select you get 5 days every 90 day cycle when your book is marked free on amazon kindle. This will help you get some traction on book downloads you can offer this free access to your audience during that period.
In this demonstration lesson I show you screen by screen exactly how to manage your KPD select settings as well as royalties, pricing and other commercial settings regarding your Amazon Kindle eBook.
In this activity lesson I run through the key actions that you need to take. Most importantly you will set the royalty plan as well as a price for your ebook which is within the range that is allowed by your chosen royalty (35% = $0,99 - $200 or 70% = $2,99 - $9,99)
Today you will just be checking all the details of your book set up. This includes the book details such as title, description, keywords and categories. Plus you will double check the preview of your manuscript and confirm you are happy with your cover. Remember that you can change any of these details, even after you have published your ebook. Its just the DRM rights that can’t be changed once you have published.
In this lesson I recap the key actions for day 5, but the most important action is that you press the button which says "Publish my ebook". You'll also double check all the details of your book and preview it so you can see the finished product and make sure to get lots of readers!
