Description
The course provides an overview of public health, vaccines, how it is developed and its values, and immunization, its programming and how it works. In its current form prior to update, the course can be completed in a day with adequate dedication. The course has the following sections in its current form: Introduction, Public Health Initiatives and Interventions, Public Health Reports and Articles and Vaccine Production. Instructor
Obinna Ebirim is a medical doctor, public health physician, health promotion specialist, Fellow of the Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders, and Co-Founder of Impact Driven Young Leaders (IDYL) Initiative. He is experienced in higher education governance, vaccines uptake & financing advocacy, Immunization & conditional cash transfers programming, healthcare delivery, political organisation, and youth leadership.
Dr. Ebirim is interested in promoting health and wellbeing, community development, and leadership, and has worked as the:
· National Coordinator at New Incentives where I managed a team of 5 senior managers and over 100 staff in the Operations, Security and Stakeholder Relations and Supply-Side units, to ensure the successful implementation of a conditional cash transfer for routine immunization program. We successfully completed the randomised control trial (RCT) phase of program implementation and raised funding to expand from 98 clinics to 713 clinics with over 300 Nigerian staff.
· Senior Associate at Direct Consulting and Logistics (DCL) in Abuja Nigeria where he provided programmatic support to the Government of Nigeria on immunization and primary health care (PHC) system strengthening through Nigerian projects of Johns Hopkins International Vaccine Access Centre (IVAC).
· Technical/Personal Assistant to a Commissioner for Health in Imo State Nigeria where he supported in policymaking, health supervisory and political roles of the Commissioner.
· Medical Officer at Naval Medical Centre in Sapele, Delta State Nigeria where he provided healthcare services to the officers, ratings, civilian Staff, and other patients from the host community as a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member.
· Intern House Officer at University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital in River State Nigeria where he provided clinical management of patients in a tertiary health setting.
· Parttime relief care worker, stadium steward, kitchen assistant, and cleaner during his MSc studies in Aberdeen, Scotland.

Dr. Obinna Ebirim is a Catholic Knight of Saint Columba (KSC), married to a pharmacist and has a son. The family lives in Nigerian capital city, Abuja.
