Explore research, silhouettes, and abstraction to communicate styles, render volume and textures on props for design in Photoshop, and develop storytelling and shape-based concepts.

  • Welcome to the course!0:56

Learn to communicate ideas through harmony, variation, contrast, and balance in prop design in Photoshop 2020, starting from scratch with purposeful strokes.

  • Introduction - Part 125:58

Learn how props and assets for animation convey story through research, aesthetics, and the language of science, balancing form, function, signs, and proportional shapes.

  • Introduction - Part 222:01

Discover how to design props in Photoshop using digital brushes, blocking, and perspective concepts like vanishing points, horizon line, and three-quarter views, plus shape variations from squares to circles.

  • Introduction - Part 320:35

Explore how to analyze and apply shape languages—circle, square, triangle—to car design, balancing harmony, variation, rhythm, and proportions with Fibonacci-based sizing.

  • Introduction - Part 420:48

Explore how to blend rhythm, variation, and form to craft a functional concept car, using vanishing-point perspective, grids, and iterative shape experiments from square to circle to triangle.

  • Introduction - Part 517:44

Experiment with shapes and proportions to create multiple prop options, testing balance and wheel layouts for directors; use rhythm, overlap, and grouping to convey depth in environment design.

  • Introduction - Part 618:21

Learn to establish vanishing points, block the vehicle silhouette in two-point perspective, test proportions by flipping, and prepare for later lighting, materials, and rendering.

  • Introduction - Part 720:32

Research first, then create original prop car designs by comparing references, sketching multiple shapes, and iterating with symmetry, perspective, and varying proportions before finalizing.
