My name is Diego A. R. Delfino, and I am a polyglot Argentine-Italian music composer and producer, fluent in Spanish, English, Portuguese, Italian, and French, with 15 years of experience as a teacher. Although my higher-education studies have been in music and sound, I've been studying languages with fascination since before elementary school (I can read and write fluently since I am four years old) and during high school, my vocational tests all showed languages as my main area of vocational talent and interest.
In college, I tested out of
all foreign language requirements in French, and I worked as a Spanish and English tutor. When I got out of college, I
did some freelance work as a composer and as a sound mixer (my background
is music and in film sound) but since the economy wasn't great (in the
year 2012) I got a part time job at a language institute. I got to teach
Spanish two days a week and take as many courses as I wanted… for free! During this time, I perfected my Italian and Portuguese to the point of total fluency, and
that also helped me understand the other languages better as well. It was this love for
languages what allowed me to acquire clients from companies such
as IHG (the international hotel company whose brands include Holiday Inn, Staybridge Suites, and Crown Plaza) The Home
Depot, CNN, Turner Broadcasting, and Coca-Cola, to name a few.
After a brain injury almost
took my life, it was my love for music and languages what made my recovery time defy
all expectations and even break several records: I received the highest
scores ever recorded for my two brain-injury rehabilitation tests at one of America's top rehabilitation
centers (The Shepherd Center). So even if you don't have a pressing need to learn a language,
you should take on the challenge: it's going to open new
neural pathways that will make you smarter.
