Prometheus PCA practice exam: 5 timed mock tests, 300 questions, every option explained
Last updated 10/2026
English

What you'll learn

  • Sit five timed 60-question practice exams that match the Prometheus Certified Associate format, pass mark and time limit
  • Write and read PromQL: selectors, rate and increase, aggregation operators, histogram_quantile, binary operators and functions
  • Explain Prometheus fundamentals: the pull model, service discovery, scrape configuration, storage, federation and the metric types
  • Design alerting and dashboards with Alertmanager routing, grouping, inhibition and silences, and instrument applications with client libraries and exporters
  • Learn from every option, not only the correct one, with a key takeaway and a Prometheus documentation link for each question

Included in This Course

300 questions
  • Practice Test 1: Prometheus Certified Associate, 60 questions, 90 minutes60 questions
  • Practice Test 2: Prometheus Certified Associate, 60 questions, 90 minutes60 questions
  • Practice Test 3: Prometheus Certified Associate, 60 questions, 90 minutes60 questions

Description

EXAM SIMULATOR, NOT A VIDEO COURSE. Every minute here is spent on exam-style questions: timed like the real exam and reviewed option by option. Use it after you have studied, to find out whether you are ready and exactly where you would lose marks.

WHY THESE EXAMS

  • 5 full length practice exams, 300 original questions, each exam 60 questions in 90 minutes with a 75 percent pass mark, the same shape as the Prometheus Certified Associate (PCA) exam from the Linux Foundation and CNCF.

  • Every answer option explained, not only the correct one, with a key takeaway and a link to the Prometheus documentation page behind the question.

  • Every question tagged with its exam domain, so practice mode lets you drill one domain at a time, and the results page shows where you lose marks.

  • Scenario questions with exhibits: metric samples, scrape configuration tables, alert routing trees and time series charts, so you practise reading an exhibit under time pressure like the real exam.

  • Real PromQL in the options: you choose between queries that differ in one function, range or aggregation, the way the exam tests whether you really understand rate, increase, histogram_quantile and the aggregation operators.

WHAT IS COVERED. The five domains of the official PCA curriculum, weighted like the exam: PromQL (28 percent), Prometheus Fundamentals (20 percent), Observability Concepts (18 percent), Alerting and Dashboarding (18 percent) and Instrumentation and Exporters (16 percent). The five exams build on each other: the first covers the domains at the level of the curriculum, the middle three go deeper into the areas candidates most often confuse (rate versus increase versus irate, counters versus gauges versus histograms versus summaries, when to use the Pushgateway, how Alertmanager groups, inhibits and silences, service discovery and relabeling), and the last is a harder mixed review.

HOW THE QUESTIONS ARE WRITTEN. Most questions put you in a situation an on-call engineer actually faces: a dashboard shows a spike that does not match the alert, a scrape target is missing, a team wants a latency SLO from a histogram. You read the exhibit or the scenario, then choose the option that the Prometheus documentation supports. Distractors are plausible mistakes, not obvious wrong answers. Every question was written for this course from the official curriculum and the Prometheus documentation; none are copied from the real exam or from any exam dump, and we never claim that any question matches a real exam question.

HOW TO USE THEM. Take Practice Test 1 in exam mode to get a baseline. Review every explanation, including the options you got right. Use practice mode on your weakest domain, then take the next exam. Aim for a stable score above 85 percent before you book the real exam.

SUPPORT. Every explanation ends with a question code. If you think an answer is wrong or outdated, post the code in Q&A and we will check it against the Prometheus documentation and correct it.
