Hi, I'm Caroline Southwell and this is the Projectors Beginner Course. So I'm your instructor for this course and like you, I am a Projector.
This course has two parts. Part 1 is for you, my fellow Projector, so that you can better understand yourself and understand how you are uniquely designed to navigate the world and it's quite different from other Types. I'm really excited that you're here with me so I can share with this you now.
Now Part 2 is for those of you who love a Projector and if you're another Type you will have realised that you are quite different from your Projector loved one, whoever this Projector is in your life.
The whole way through this course there are modules and within each module is a bunch of lessons. You can go through if you like, and do individual lessons or complete a single module at a time. And then go and integrate the learnings and consider how to play with it and then come back and do the next chunk. Or if you get interrupted by kids or co-workers or whoever at the time then you can do each chunk and just hit "complete" at the end of each one so you know where you're up to. Or you can go through and binge through the whole lot all in one go :) Whatever works for you.
Now, most of this course is video presentation slides. So you'll be able to see the slides for you visual learners, and you'll hear my voice - you auditory learners - over the top of those slides. And underneath each slide, I have the video transcripts which are pretty much word-for-word what I'm saying in the videos ;) So if you want to read these you can. If you want to read while I'm talking you can also do that.
***Here on Udemy, to read the transcript (it's not automatically underneath as on other platforms but rather) look for the icon that looks like a piece of paper on the right side of the bottom of this video. The transcript will then pop up on the right side of this video!***
And there are some questions and quick quizzes throughout to help you to reinforce your learnings as you go. Because I really want you to not just mentally learn this but go and apply it in your life and integrate it because it's the application of knowledge that will help you to change your life.
So however it is that we find ourselves playing together I'm super excited that I get to share this super meaningful, powerful, important, life-changing work with you. And let's begin!
Course Overview
In Part 1 - "For the Projector". In this part, we'll look at:
WHY this information is worth learning about
WHAT several important terms mean, so you can apply what Human Design is here to teach
HOW to live in better alignment so you can do what you came here to do & we'll wrap up with some...
Frequently Asked Questions
Then in Part 2 - "For those who love a Projector" - we'll briefly run through:
How your Projector loved one operates
What to do to improve your relationship with your Projector &
What to avoid
My intention for this course is this:
That you will come out the other side of these lessons having a better understanding of how to become a healthier, more empowered and more appreciated Projector. And if you're a different Human Design Type and you're learning about the Projector, then you'll have a better understanding of how your Projector loved one can come into better alignment with themselves.
My assumption at this point is that you do already have your own free Human Design Chart. If you do not, the fastest way to get your own chart is at jovianarchive.com Look for the menu item that says "Get your Free Chart" (Direct link here: https://www.jovianarchive.com/Get_Your_Chart)
Please be sure to enter your details carefully with your exact time of birth and if you don't know your exact time of birth you'll find a link in the transcript below this video that will walk you through what to do to get a correct chart (bit.ly/Get_HD_Chart)
And now, let's get into the learning in Part 1!
Why learning about yourself through Human Design & discovering what it means to be a Projector is a good use of your time.
People are motivated to do things for three main reasons. They want to:
a). move away from pain
b). move towards pleasure or
c). they feel intuitively drawn towards something
Most of my Projector clients come to me because they feel burnt out or bitter. They've been trying to do all the things they've been told will work and have not experienced the success they were promised.
They just don't understand what they're doing wrong and why so many of their efforts are not working out as they had hoped. They get a sense that they're wise and powerful and intuitive but they don't seem to be able to translate this into the level of success they long for.
Human Design can help with a lot of different areas of life, but first and foremost it helps us to understand how we are designed to operate in relationship to other people. When you do this bit the right way - for YOU - then all other aspects of life, including your business or work in the world, can begin to improve in profound and beautiful ways.
This information can help you to change your behaviours as you better understand how you're energetically designed to do life. It can help you in all of your relationships including your familial, professional, romantic, platonic and incidental. By applying what's in this course you can expect the external results and circumstances in your life to begin to change. Because as you change your behaviours, your results will naturally change.
What we'll cover over the next handful of videos is a quick overview of the terms Type & Projector, Strategy & Wait for the Invitation and what they mean in the context of Human Design.
We'll also briefly discuss the Not-Self Theme and Signature of the Projector & look at how your Energy Field actually works.
After we've looked at those terms, we'll look more in-depth at:
What you are here to do
What you are not here to do
What you need (in order to feel healthy and feel satisfied)
What deconditioning is, why it's important and how to do it,
and we'll finish up with a quick look at...
Decision-making Inner Authority
There is a lot more detail on your Human Design chart than what we cover in this course. I've been deliberate in what I'm including here to ensure that you get a good foundation by focusing on what will make the greatest positive impact on your life.
More than 6 years of experience and endless teachings by multiple teachers have shown me again, and again, and again, that what changes a person's life is to understand and live according to Type, Strategy and Inner Authority.
There is so much information in Human Design that you can literally spend years down the rabbit hole. But studying the intricate details of your chart won't help you in the beginning anywhere near as much as following your Strategy for your Type, and honouring your Inner Authority. So that's where we are going to focus on in this course.
Now, if you're a Projector, you're naturally going to want to study the other HD Types. And in better understanding the other, you can begin to better understand yourself. But start here my love. Start here. Learn about you. Then go learn about the other. Just remember to keep applying what you learn back to yourself and your own life. OK?
Good. Let's do this :)
Briefly now let’s look at Type & Projector.
Type is how your energy field behaves and interacts with others. Every person on the planet has an energy field. They all behave slightly differently but broadly speaking there are five main "Types" of behaviours that people are here to play out.
Some people are here to initiate & make things happen while others are here to do the work they love. Some people are here to reflect humanity's progress while others are here to juggle many projects at once. And you, My Dear Projector, are in the 20% (ish!) of the population that are here to guide, manage & direct others when invited.
Your energy field is designed specifically to help you in your role of helping others. It's deeply penetrating by design. It's like you reach out with an energetic arm and put your hand right into the centre of the other person's chest. This allows you to feel and know so very much about them; about their potential, about their pain, about their path.
How your energy field works is neither good nor bad, but it is very different from all the other Types. And as you might imagine, it's super important to understand that this is how your energy field functions because it influences every single relationship you are in and can make or break any single one of them.
"Projector" is the name of your Type. You've been given that name because your energy field is literally penetrating or "projecting" into the heart of the other person.
It's what makes you super wise about other people. It's what allows you to know things about other people that sometimes they don't even know about themselves. It is what makes you potentially amongst the best guides on the planet. But as you'll soon discover when we talk about Strategy, you are not here to guide everyone.
Let me repeat that because it's so important. you are not here to guide everyone!
So while you plug deeply into everyone you come into contact with, you are not here to tell every person you meet what you see and feel and sense and know about them. Rather you are just here to observe and play witness to the beauty and pain and wonder that makes up humanity and only enter the conversations, relationships and opportunities where you have been recognised and invited. More on this in the next lesson.
Strategy & Wait for the Invitation
"Strategy" refers to how you help yourself to stay in flow. Every Type has a corresponding Strategy and it's one of your best buddies in the world of Human Design.
"Wait for the Invitation" is the Strategy of the Projector.
Following your Human Design Strategy will help you to:
Enter the right relationships & opportunities for you
Help prevent you from burning out (or help you recover is you're already feeling burnt out) &
Help you to see who are “your people” who you are here to guide and help
Invitations come when people recognise your wisdom and want you specifically to guide them. Invites come when people sense your ability to plug into them deeply and they actively want that experience. They want you, they want your intuitive knowing, they want you in their life or business or bedroom! Haha :)
An invitation can be very direct and obvious.
It can a letter or an email or a text message asking you, personally, to take up a particular opportunity. Invitations are needed in ALL your relationships to make them work and you'll get invites from the right people for you to be in relationship with. So you could be invited on a date. You could be encouraged to apply for a job, or a contract, or to work with a new client. You could be asked to write for a magazine, or speak on a stage, or out for breakfast with a friend.
Obvious invites are easy to spot; the person is speaking or writing to you directly and they want you specifically. But there are other invites that are not so obvious:
There are unspoken invites, like when you're standing in a group and people look your way to see what you think about the topic being discussed
There are subtle invites, like when a friend asks what you think about a particular situation they're facing &
There are wishful invites, like when someone says to you "Oh, I wish you'd make a program about this" or "I wish you'd write a book about that."
They also count as invitations that you can take action on.
Now that we've talked about some examples of what invitations can look and sound like, let's talk about what does not constitute an invitation when it comes to being a Projector.
If you are someone who hears or sees or senses guidance from your angels, from God or from any non-physical being, these do not count as an actual invitation to start the thing that's been suggested. For you to take action and for it to be successful you need a 3D (third dimension) invitation.
I joke with my Projector clients and say "If your atheist neighbour or highly sceptical buddy from work was in the room when you received the invitation and they couldn't see or hear the invitation, then it doesn't count. You can't take action... yet".
Here's why: You have a physical body that has its own timing on earth. For you to know if that idea that you received in meditation or while journalling or that popped into your head while showering is yours to implement and if it is, for you to know the correct timing for it to be implemented, you need an actual real-life invitation. That's your cue that it's showtime. That's how the flow for the Projector works. It's simple and it works so beautifully well when you actually surrender to it.
Now, here's another example of what is not an invitation that confuses Projectors all the time:
When you are in a group setting, in person, online, or in any context, and someone asks if "anyone from the group" would like to participate in an opportunity, then that's not an invite for you.
Invitations are specific to you. So unless someone in the group personally said to YOU, "Hey, I think you'd be great at that thing. Why don't you put your hand up?" or the group leader specifically calls on YOU to speak or get involved, unless that happens then there is nothing you need do but wait.
Invitations are specific to you. You need to be seen, recognised and personally asked. That's how you know someone wants your wisdom, your expertise, your insights. So until you get your next invite, you wait.
And here's one last example of something that is not an invitation that comes up a lot and that is when a well-meaning person, a coach, a family member or a friend invites you to do something that they themselves won't engage with.
For example, a business coach invites you to create a new product or program that you know how to make with your expertise. Now they're not going to buy it and they are probably just teaching you what worked for them. They want you to be successful because your success is their success. But this doesn't work. It's not in flow. Because all the coach is doing is giving you their ideas and asking you to go make it happen.
The only invite that counts in business is when your client or customer, or potential client or customer (who recognises you) asks you to create something that they genuinely would want from you. And whether it's your business mentor, your partner or your Mum, if that well-meaning person who is making suggestions isn't the one who is going to consume the thing, or interact with you, then the invite doesn't count.
Now that was a lot on invitations so let's summarise:
Invitations are specific
Invitations are not always going to be obvious, but they can be
Invitations will always be something that can be seen or heard by another person watching in the 3D physical, earthy plane &
Waiting for an invitation helps you to know who are your people who want the gold you have to offer
And when you're not getting invites you wait.
While you're waiting, you rest. You study things you love. You do things that feel like play. You do things to spark your own creativity and receptivity. And when you're ready, you'll receive your next invite.
Before we move on, I'll say one last thing: There are things that you don't need invites for.
Now in traditional Human Design, it is taught that you only need to wait for invitations to the big things in life; starting new relationships, starting a new job or business, moving house, etc. But as a Projector myself now more than 6 years into my experimental journey with Human Design I have discovered that waiting for an invitation even into much smaller things is super, super useful. My life actually works much, much better when I wait for invitations to as many things as possible.
But having said that, you don't need an invitation to do things that don't directly require another human being. Like the housework, or the grocery shopping, or going for a walk around the block.
You also don't need an invite when you've already previously been invited. So you don't need an invite to call a close friend or to do work on a project that you've already been asked to work on previously, or to offer guidance to a client who is already paying you money to do so.
Now we'll look at the Not-Self Theme & the Signature of the Projector so you can see what happens when you wait for the invitation, and what happens when you don't.
Not-Self Theme & Signature
Every Type, and therefore every person on the planet, has a "shadow" (or so-called "negative") emotion that will be your teacher for this life. The Not-Self Theme of the Projector, which may or may not be printed on your chart, is the emotional theme of Bitterness.
Bitterness is that feeling you get as a Projector when you feel like no one is seeing you, no one is hearing you, no one is getting you. It's the experience Projectors have when they get overlooked, talked over or ignored. They don't feel valued or appreciated and as a result, you feel bitter!
Now feeling bitter isn't actually a "bad" thing, though it does feel pretty bad. It is an emotional experience that is there to help you, the Projector, to notice when you've fallen off track. Feeling bitterness is your sign that you didn't wait to be invited. So embrace this emotion as your friend and notice when it's speaking to you. It's really trying to help you.
Final notice on this: It can be helpful to clear out old memories of feeling bitter, that way you won't keep playing out this pattern again and again. So if you know how to reconsolidate memories and change previous memories then that will be a very, very useful process to do.
It's also probably going to be helpful to look at any beliefs that you hold about your own value. If you, personally, are not valuing yourself, your wisdom and your work then others are going to mirror that back to you by not valuing you.
Now whether it's written on your Human Design chart or not, and often it's not, every Type has a positive emotional experience they long for and are designed to feel.
The "Signature" is the counter to the "Not-Self Theme". When you're not in flow you bump into that feeling of bitterness, when you are in flow you experience something wonderful!
The Signature of the Projector is labelled as "Success". And while technically that's not actually an emotion, it is an experience, and it's what you get when you're in flow.
When you value yourself and notice who recognises you, and you wait for those invitations, you'll experience far more success in your relationships and in your endeavours. It's gold, and it's so much fun to experience.
If through your own self-discovery so far you've found that you've had some easy success then you'll know this feeling I'm speaking of.
And if you feel like you've worked very hard to try to do all the "right" things and do all the things you were taught and it's felt like you've been pushing water uphill, then good news: it gets easier when you follow your Human Design Strategy. It gets easier when you wait for invitations and then take action because that is your flow, that is your path to "success".
Now if you're taking this course in chunks, then I recommend you do the quick quiz before you take a break.
What you are here to do
As a Projector you are literally designed to do the following:
Guide, manage and direct other people (who recognise your wisdom and invite you!)
Study anything that fascinates you (as you’ll likely teach other people about it later)
Prioritise rest & play over “being busy”
You, like all other humans, are here to be yourself. And to be yourself, you must first know and then honour who you are. That means guiding, managing and directing "your people" - that is, the people who recognise you.
It means waiting for invitations, true invitations, the ones who come from those who really "recognise" your genius and your wisdom.
It also means studying and playing and resting as really quite high priorities, because these help you to refuel between your working and doing projects, and they also help you do an even better job the next time 'round. And they feel good, and let's face it, who doesn't want to feel good?! :)
What you're not here to do
In short, what you are not here to do, is be something you're not.
You're not here to take the ideas of your mind, or soul, or from your angels or other non-physical beings and just go make them happen, that's the role of the Manifestor
You're not here to throw yourself into work and build and create for hours and hours every day, that's the role of the Generator
You're not here to juggle multiple projects all at once at a speedy speed, that's the role of the Manifesting Generator &
You're not here to reflect to other people how humanity is progressing in its quest to wake up, because that is the role of the really rare Reflector
If you've been trying to do any of these things, it's because one of your parents was like this. They unintentionally "conditioned" or taught you to be like them. And even if your parents are quite similar to you and are the same Human Design Type as you, then you've still had influences from other parts of society - teachers, preachers, the media, and your peers just to name just a few.
In the time and age we live in it's very common to hold a belief that if you're going to be successful in life you have to "go make it happen". And this is really unhelpful advice for a Projector. In fact, it's one of the fastest ways to become bitter, broke and/or burnt out.
You're not here to initiate. You're not here to take your ideas and immediately go make them happen. You're not here to be busy doing and making and building. Other people are designed to be this way, but not you. That's not your flow. That's not your way.
And your role, as a guide for others, and your flow, of waiting to be asked, or invited, or recognised is perfect for YOU. It's how you came to earth to be and it's what you came to do. Full stop.
You have important work to do in this life and you can only do that, you can only be that, by letting go of the ways you're trying to be like someone else. So I invite you now to begin to even more deeply and confidently relax into being unapologetically you.
Next, we'll look at what you need to do in order to be more of yourself and experience more of that success most Projectors are longing for.
What You Need
What you need for you to be a healthy, successful & satisfied Projector is you need to:
Support others who ask for your help
Create a “working” life that requires way less than a standard 40-hour workweek
Get more sleep and rest than most people
Allow yourself to study and play regularly &
Focus on increasing your sense of self-worth
What will also help is to:
Practise speaking when you've been invited or sense you have been recognised by another
Create new things when you've been invited to do so, and create in the spaces where you've already been invited previously to create
Avoid doing what God/ the Universe/ Source/ your angels/ etc (all non-physical beings and entities) tell you to do until you’ve had an actual invitation from a real live human &
Learn about your particular decision-making process (also known as your “Inner Authority”)
We'll talk more about Inner Authority in an upcoming lesson. But before we get to that, let's look at the role that conditioning has played in making you the person you are today.
Conditioning and Deconditioning
Conditioning is a term that you've probably heard before taking this course, but in case it's still new to you, let me explain.
When you were born, you, like all other humans came into the world as this beautiful yet helpless little body with a soul inside. Your energetic design as shown on your Human Design chart was already in place the moment you entered the world. Then, in an attempt to support you to navigate the world, your wonderful parents, or caregivers, or whoever raised you, then took on the mammoth task of teaching you all the things they thought you needed to know in order to survive in the world.
This process of being taught about how the world works is called conditioning.
You and every single other person on the planet were taught or conditioned to act in certain ways and do certain things. You were told which emotions were allowed and which were not. You were told everything from how to hold your fork and why you can't throw food, to how to read and write and why you had to learn certain things at school that maybe you thought were unnecessary.
You were told how you should interact with others, and make friends and create new opportunities for yourself. Some of these things may not have felt correct, or good, or right for you, but as a child, and part of a family, you probably mostly did what you were told in order to survive.
Some would say conditioning is necessary for our survival. Most would agree that it's unavoidable.
I don't know a single adult on the planet who has managed to raise their kids without consciously or unconsciously conditioning them. Parents do the best they know how. But that doesn't always mean that we were taught the right things for us. Your parents, like mine and everyone else's, did what they thought was best, and what they knew how to do, which was probably to teach you what had worked for them. They did what they knew to do in order to keep you alive.
If you are watching or listening or reading this now, they succeeded, woohoo! You're alive, which means you get to have the choice to come back into greater alignment now because you survived.
If conditioning is the process of learning how to survive and do things a particular way, then deconditioning is the process of unlearning.
Our Human Design charts help us to discern which things we need to unlearn and which things we probably want to keep.
For example: If you were taught that "sleeping during the day means you're lazy" then as a Projector, you're probably going to want to change this belief. Why? Simple. Projectors can really benefit from having more sleep and rest than other people. And sometimes you might not be able to fit in the amount of sleep you really need at night, therefore day naps are a fabulous solution. And when you get more rest as a Projector you become a human who is happier, healthier and more able to powerfully contribute.
Now on the flip side, if you were conditioned to think that "you should only hang out with people who really value you", then that's a great belief for a Projector to hold. And sure, sometimes you might find that you need to visit that family member who talks over you or deal with that co-worker who pretends you don't exist while you're right in front of them in meetings. But if you hold this particular belief (of only hanging out with those who value you) then you'll find that the vast majority of your time and energy will magically be spent with people who love and value you.
Now to test whether a belief is useful or not, you can do two things:
1. Check the belief you have against the previous lesson "What you are here to do" and what you know about your role as a Projector &
2. Ask yourself the question: Is this belief helping me to be a healthy, happy and successful person?
If the answer is 'no' to that question, then you're going to want to change the belief!
Deconditioning is a process. It takes time. It requires you to be willing to look in the mirror and notice where you're doing something that feels heavy, hard or simply not fun.
Using the tools you have, or learning some new ones, you can choose to change what does not feel like it's helping you to be in flow. My favourite for this kind of change work is EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) or tapping, but you can use any tool that is effective in creating behavioural change.
That's enough on deconditioning for now. Next, some questions on what we’ve just covered!
Inner Authority
Before we wrap up it's important to cover Inner Authority.
Inner Authority refers to how you're designed to make decisions. By its very name, this decision-making process reminds you that you are your own Authority and that that Authority lives inside you. As a Projector, you may not always know what's the right decision for you until you talk it through with other people. But having said that, there is a lot of different decision-making Authorities for Projectors and no two Projectors are exactly the same. So take this as a "general rule" and then tweak it based on the information I'm about to share on your specific Inner Authority.
To know your own correct path, you must know yourself (as we've talked about in previous lessons) and that includes knowing how you specifically are designed to make decisions.
You, like all the rest of us, are not designed to make decisions with the mind.
Your wonderful, perhaps brilliant, potentially busy mind will probably try to tell you what to do maybe many times a day. But it's important to know that the human mind is actually not equipped to make decisions and will likely just lead you astray. If you've been struggling to make decisions up to this point, if you've been writing pros and cons lists or second-guessing yourself, then your mind has been interfering where it has no business.
Understanding your specific Human Design Inner Authority, the way you're designed to make decisions and following it is so important because this is what is going to help you find what's correct for you and help you to stay in the flow of life.
There are five main ways that Projectors can be designed to make decisions. Your Inner Authority will be listed on your chart and it will be one of the following:
1. Emotional/Solar Plexus/Wait for Clarity
2. Splenic/Spontaneous Recognition (that is, what feels true for you right now)
3. Ego/Ego Projected (that is, "what do I want?" & "what do I have the will for?")
4. Self-Projected (so you're going to talk it out) &
5. “Mental” (you're going to talk it out with a range of people & it has nothing to do with the mind)
Emotional Inner Authority is the most common of the decision-making designs. Having this Inner Authority does not mean that you are overly emotional or you should make emotionally reactive decisions. Rather it means that you have a built-in Emotional Wave that goes up and down over time. If this is your Inner Authority, then you will make your best decisions by waiting a few days and giving yourself time to "sleep on it" when it comes to making a decision about any new opportunity or change to your life.
If a decision is correct for you it will have come in as an invitation and when invited the opportunity will feel like it's a "yes" initially and then over the coming hours and days, on your naturally high days and then your naturally lower days this invitation will still feel like a "yes". If over the course of several days or a week that big thing you've been invited into is a "yes" then a "no" then a "yes" then a "no" again, then this is not the right opportunity for you. If you were to commit to that thing, you'd love it and hate it and love it and hate it, and really experience that emotional wave like it's a rollercoaster. Not ideal.
So when it comes to new opportunities, new relationships, moving house, anything that would take a big commitment of your time, money and energy, please buy yourself some time. If the person really wants you, they will wait for your answer. And if they really truly do appreciate you then they will be okay with you saying "no" if that's your truth.
--
Splenic Inner Authority is the next most common decision-making design. This will be experienced as a deep gut knowing in the now. It will whisper your truth to you immediately after you get an invite, and then it will disappear like it was never there. This decision making authority can be tough if you have a loud mind and you aren't committed to a regular mindfulness practice because it's subtle and you have to be present to hear it or feel it. However, if your chart says "Splenic" or "Spontaneous Recognition" as your Inner Authority, this is how you're designed to make decisions. You should make very quick decisions. You should not "think about it" or "sleep on it".
Depending on the other aspects of your chart, you may need to talk it through with a loved one, but they might only help you find the right timing, because your gut knowing already knows what it knows, it just doesn't know how it knows what it knows!
If you have this inner authority and you don't already practise mindfulness or some kind of meditation practise I'm going to invite you to start incorporating this into your life immediately. It will help you make better decisions and therefore accept the right invites for you, and thereby create a better life.
--
Ego Inner Authority doesn't have the nicest name, but it does at least point you in the right direction. If this is your Inner Authority you are designed to make it all about you. The question you're going to ask yourself when you receive an invite into something big is, "Do I want to do this?". This Inner Authority is all about you and what you want.
You will probably need to talk this out with a loved one to work out what you truly want. Be sure to talk with someone who wants what is best for you but doesn't have a strong agenda to see you do one thing or the other.
You talking out loud your potential decisions with others is not about getting their opinion, it's about you working out, out loud, what you want. Their job is to hold space for you, not to tell you what to do.
As you talk this out, know that this "Ego" Centre is an energy centre that is about willpower, so you need to hear your own willpower that you can do this and you want to do this and you will do this in your own voice. Your voice should sound willful and powerful, and might sound something like "I want to get it done and I will get it done" or "I want to marry him so I will". Note, this is a very rare decision making inner authority, so if people think you shouldn't make decisions this way, it's probably because they've never met somebody like you before.
--
Self Projected Inner Authority is also a rare Inner Authority, and you are most definitely designed to "talk it out" with your loved ones. You will have had the same inward flow of opportunity as any other Projector, in that you will have received an invitation and you're now trying to decide what's correct for you. So find a person, or even your pet cat or dog (since they don't talk back!), and talk out loud about the invitation you've received and how you feel about it. As you talk, notice how your voice sounds.
Does it sound smooth and flowing and can you speak about the opportunity easily? If so, this opportunity is probably correct for you. If your voice sounds gravelly and you're finding it hard to get the words out your mouth, if it feels clunky or difficult to talk about, then it's likely a "no" for you. If you're talking this out with another human being, be sure to talk to someone who will just let you talk and who won't interrupt you or tell you what they think you should do. The only thing you need from them is for them to listen (which is why pets are great sound boarding for you) and for them to reflect back to you what they heard.

Mental Inner Authority contrary to its name, is not about making decisions with your mind. This decision-making decision Authority is named this way because if this is your Inner Authority, you only have 2 or 3 of the energy Centres (that are a bit like Chakras) coloured in or defined at the very top of your chart. That's the entire reason it's named "Mental".
This is neither good nor bad, it just is. But let me be really, really clear here; you are not designed to make decisions with your mind by "thinking" about it. Forget about pros and cons lists. Instead, talk to your loved ones.
Talk about what you think and feel about this opportunity that you've been invited into and hear the perspectives of your loved ones and whether they think/feel this would be a good idea for you based on what they know about you. You may need to talk with several different people who care about you, not just one. And you may need to do this over several days, or even a few weeks, depending on how big the commitment is.
Once you've had all the talks you need, heard all the perspectives you need and really feel like you've been heard then take all that data and go move your body on your own. Find your own time and space, away from everyone else and let the answer come to you as you move and be with yourself.
***Remember, regardless of your Inner Authority it always goes together with your Strategy.***
So don't try to make decisions about which of your divinely inspired ideas you should go make happen. Because that's not how you're wired as a Projector and it's not going to work. It's just going to lead to more bitterness, more burn out and more experiences of feeling broke or broken.
If those wonderful ideas are supposed to come to fruition you'll get a direct invitation of some kind that will allow that thing to come through you and into form.
Next, we'll look at some Frequently Asked Questions and then it's onto Part Two!
Frequently Asked Questions
Q1. What do those two numbers on my chart mean? There is this fraction looking thing next to the word Profile, what does it mean?
A1. Your Profile is like the character you play in this life. It has two parts represented by two numbers. You may have the same Profile as your Generator friend or your Manifestor loved one, and so I have not included it in this course.
I have written a little bit about Profiles in the Human Design Basics Guide (there is a link to this in the "Next Steps" lesson) which is enough to give you a basic understanding of your Profile.
But please note: The most important aspects of your chart to really get a handle on are understanding your Type, and following your Strategy and Inner Authority. I often suggest that people spend the first year (or more) of their journey with Human Design just focused on nailing these. Because while the other aspects of the chart are fascinating, Type, Strategy and Inner Authority have the potential to radically change your life.
Of course, like I mentioned in the beginning of this course. because you are a Projector you may well want to study the other Types as well, because, as you've now learnt, we Projectors are naturally wise about other people and are here to guide them. And we often learn the most about ourselves through better understanding the other. So if you feel drawn to learning about the other Types, do that. But again I would suggest focusing on their Type, Strategy & Inner Authority only and remember to apply what you learn about the other back to yourself and your own life.
Q2. I've just looked up the charts of all my loved one's and they look quite different from me! Where can I get more info about the other Types?
A2. Well, of course, you've looked up the charts of all your loved ones. You're a Projector! That's what you do ;) So I currently have online classes about Manifestors, Generators & Manifesting Generators that you can purchase. There is also a Human Design Basics Guide (as a PDF with audios) that briefly covers all Types, Strategies, Inner Authorities and Profiles - thus making it a good overview if you have loved ones of several different Types. Links for all of these are in the "Next Steps" lesson.
Q3. I want to learn more about how to apply this info to my individual situation. Can I get on a call with you?
A3. I coach conscious entrepreneurs, change-makers and leaders who are determined to be themselves as we birth a new world. If that sounds like you then there are details for how to go about that in the "Next Steps" lesson.
For those who love a Projector
In this short section we'll cover the following topics:
How your Projector loved one operates
What to do &
What to avoid
If you have time and you haven't done it already, I recommend that you watch Part One before completing Part Two. While I have addressed it directly to the Projector it will help you immensely in understanding your loved one.
Please note: While this course is designed for the adult Projector the same things apply to Projector children. In fact, if you can raise your Projector child in a way that is more in alignment with the truth of who they are (energetically) then you'll be helping to nurture a soon-to-be adult Projector who has the chance to be more successful, much healthier and who knows their own innate value.
If you're a busy Projector who is wondering if this section of the course will be a good use of your time, my clients often tell me that hearing the same things explained different ways helps them immensely to deepen their understanding of who they are. So yes, it's a good use of your time! ;)
Please also know that I've made this section brief deliberately so that if you have an impatient or super busy loved one who won't take this whole course, then ask them to just watch this short (Part 2) section as it will likely help them to understand you better and thus improve your relationship with them :)
If you're ready, then let's jump in!
How your Projector Loved One operates
Your Projector loved one is innately wise about other people. But they don't have this same wisdom about themselves.
They need to talk out loud with others about opportunities they’ve been invited into before making a final decision.
They need an invitation (or recognition of their wisdom) in order to be successful heard and accepted by you and other people.
They have an energy field that penetrates deeply into people, one person at a time. So if it feels like your Projector is seeing straight into your soul, well, they kind of are!
Your Projector loved one is here to guide, manage & direct others (who invite them to do so!). So please invite them to give you guidance as often as you can. They have a wealth of helpful insights to share if only you ask.
Your Projector loved one will find success in their work & relationships when they learn to value themselves. And while in an ideal world, every human would value themselves, it's vital for the Projector to prioritise this as they will get more invites and more recognition the more they value themselves. And the invites will be rare when they don't value themselves.
Your Projector loved one manifests ideas into form by waiting for invitations. Sometimes we have very rigid beliefs about how thoughts can turn into things, but the most effortless, easy way and the correct flow for your Projector loved one to "manifest" things into form is by following their Human Design Strategy and waiting for invitations to do the things they've been dreaming of.
Your Projector loved one will feel bitter or resentful when they don’t feel seen, heard or appreciated. This is their emotional signpost that they didn't wait for an invitation.
Your Projector is designed to do way less “doing” than the majority of people. The 40-hour workweek is rarely going to be a good match for a Projector. Instead, they need higher paying part-time work in a workplace where they are recognised, or a business of some kind that pays them really well to work way less hours than most people.
Your Projector loved one will likely sleep best when they go to bed before they are tired & they are really designed to sleep best alone. Obviously, if your Projector loved one is your partner, this might not be very welcome news. But if you can create an arrangement where your Projector gets to sleep in another part of the house even a couple of nights a week, then you'll probably help to nurture a happier, healthier, and ultimately more productive Projector.
Now that you know a bit about how your Projector loved one operates let's look now at what you can do to help them be their most empowered, happy, healthy self.
What to do to help your Projector and to improve your relationship with them:
Invite them to help you, invite them to offer their insights/suggestions (any time that you think they could be useful or even if you wonder if they might be useful)
If they are feeling bitter or resentful remind them, gently, to wait for an invitation
Encourage them to go to bed before they are tired
Invite them to consider sleeping alone (especially if they have a Generator or Manifesting Generator partner)
If they are burnt out, encourage them to rest as much as possible, including napping or anything restful, while doing only what’s absolutely necessary
Help them to find ways to increase their sense of self-worth
Tell them that you appreciate them any time that feels true for you
What to avoid
Avoiding the following behaviours is going to help you to improve your relationship with your Projector loved one:
Expecting them to initiate conversations or start things based on their ideas
Telling them that they should hustle and go make their dreams a reality already. Both of these points are things closer suited to the Manifestor Type, and definitely not suitable for your precious Projector
Asking them to go, go, go all day and think they should only go to bed when they're exhausted because that's just not how Projectors are designed to operate & you're going to burn out your precious Projector
Expecting them to make decisions on their own without letting them “talk it out”, they really do need to talk stuff out
Shaming or berating them for not being like you, instead see how you can love and appreciate them for who they are
And we're almost done. There's a quick quiz up next to help solidify what you've just learned. Ready?
If you're looking for really simple, easy-to-understand, user-friendly resources on Human Design and you're a Projector (or have one in your life you wish you understood better!) then this course is specifically for you.
It's a basic introduction to all things Projector. You'll learn about the Type, Strategy and each of the different Inner Authorities of the Projector. You'll also learn about the Not-Self Theme and Signature of the Projector, two terms that are not listed on all HD charts but are important to know about!
If you're a Projector and you're brand new to HD this course is for you. But it will also be helpful if you have been learning about HD for a while and your Projector self is still confused! This course is designed to make the complicated nature of Human Design as simple as possible so you can get on with your life and make it work better than it currently is!
This course is not for you if you can already explain to someone else what the terms Type, Strategy and Inner Authority mean. It's not for you if you're already actively "waiting for the invitation" most of the time as your normal way of being. But it is for you if you still find any aspect of this confusing or unclear or you still feel stuck and you don't know why you can't follow your HD Strategy!
You'll get the most out of it if you speak fluent English. Please know that your instructor is from Australia so expect to hear an Aussie accent!
