I get it. There are thousands of project management courses to choose from on Udemy--how do you know THIS course is the right one for you? As you'll see in this Welcome video, I designed this course with a specific type of person in mind.

I call them "accidental project managers." These are people who didn't set out to become formal project managers and probably don't even have "project manager" in their job title...but are still asked to lead or participate in special projects, in addition to their "day job."

If this describes you, you're in the right place! This course will teach you the most POWERFUL, PRACTICAL techniques used by real project managers to knock their projects out of the park...without bogging you down in technical jargon, complicated templates, or impractical techniques that you won't have time to implement as a busy professional.

    Let's get started!

  • Take Action: Introduce Yourself0:57
  • What Qualifies as a Project?3:12

Did you know there is a formal definition of a project that separates them from the other work you do every day? This quick video will help you identify what aspects of your work will MOST benefit from the tools and techniques we learn in this course.

  • Are You a "Project Manager?"1:57

You don't have to have the job title "project manager" to be doing the job...and this video will prove it to you.

  • About to Start a Project? Avoid This ONE BIG MISTAKE.1:33
  • The Five Essential Steps (Plus Downloadable Guide)3:31

Now we're ready to talk about the five essential steps I recommend you use for your projects.

Be sure to download the Quick Guide in the resource folder, which you can reference during the rest of class. It gives you simple checklists to follow for each step, including both "critical tasks" and "nice-to-dos."

I recommend you print these checklists and put them somewhere visible as you manage your projects!

  • Course Exercise1:12

To practice the techniques we learn in this course, you have two options. You can either use a real project you're working on now, or you can download the Case Study in the resources folder and use that one to work the Five Steps the first time. The benefit of using the case study is that I've provided answers, suggestions, and examples of all the techniques we learn using that case study as a foundation.

I recommend that even if you practice using your own project, go ahead and read the brief project case study so you can leverage all the examples I provide to the fullest.

Description

Are you ready to make a BIG impact at work? Your next project could be a real opportunity for you and your team to shine!

Unfortunately, too many professionals have never been given the essential toolkit needed to execute business projects successfully.

Without this powerful set of skills, many otherwise talented people are left wondering:

  • Why does working on this project feel painful and chaotic?

  • How am I going to tell my boss that we're going to blow the deadline?

  • What will it take to stop feeling like I'm drowning at work?

Trust me, I know what this feels like. Before I became a formal project manager of multi-million dollar projects—and later, an executive—I was what people sometimes call an "Accidental Project Manager."

An accidental project manager (also sometimes called an "occasional project manager" or "unofficial project manager") is someone who is not a formal project manager by title or training, but who is still asked to lead business projects in addition to their day-to-day work.

In those early years of leading projects, I struggled to find training and advice that was tailored to me and my situation as a non-technical project manager. It took time, experience, and a lot of trial and error to learn to consistently deliver results.

That's why I felt it was so important to put together this course...to save you time and help you get results faster.

In our time together, you'll learn the 5 essential steps to leading a project from concept to completion:

  • STEP 1: STRATEGIZE.

  • STEP 2: PLAN.

  • STEP 3: EXECUTE.

  • STEP 4: TROUBLESHOOT.

  • STEP 5: WRAP-UP.

For each of these steps, you'll get:

  • Concise, practical explanations of exactly what you need to do within each step

  • 20+ downloadable templates, examples, and teaching guides to help you apply what you're learning

  • External articles, podcasts, and templates to give you even more options for your particular industry

  • Featured Q&A (actively updated) to address common pain points

  • Email coaching to bring the steps to life in practical terms

You'll also have a chance to practice along with each of these steps by either working on a live project you have or completing a case study project throughout the course.

If you're ready to ace your next project, let's get started!
